Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Thornton Township

I haven't eaten here in years. This particular location was closed for remodeling, and recently reopened. It's was busy before, and has increased it's footprint in the neighborhood. I mentioned the info above to set the stage. I drive by this location often since I live in a neighboring suburb. I finally decide to stop here before going to work.

What I walked into was both interesting, hilarious, and disturbing. I was tempted to get the 10 piece dark for $13.99, but I couldn't remember if the chicken was actually good. I ended up with the number 2, the 3 legs and/or thighs combo original with a side and drink. Prior to me ordering one of the staff mentioned that there would be a 15 minute wait on chicken. Approximately 13mins later the chicken comes up and women ahead of me are openly complaining. They start giving out their orders, and the complaints ensue directly at the employees. I patiently waited for my turn and food while more people continued to pour in.

Between the walk-ins, drive thru, and Door dash and Uber eats orders were hectic. 8 orders passed out, and I'm still waiting after another 10 mins. Finally I'm asked what I ordered(which tells me it was kicked out of their queue). Then I waited another 3 mins for them to make my order. While my drink was being made the young lady spilled about a third of it and the ice on the table. Then picked it back up put the lid on, and attempted to hand it to me. I simply asked could she remake it, and she acted as if she didn't hear me and said "What"? I repeated my request and she stared at me, then begrudgingly remade the drink.

I haven't had, in person face to face customer service this bad in over a decade. The food itself was not worth the mediocre experience in a nicer building. To anyone tempted to go here after the recent remodel. I highly suggest staying in your car, and using the drive thru to minimize contact with the up front workers. The workers in the back seem nice, though sadly are obviously overwhelmed and under appreciated. Thanks for taking the time...

BEWARE!!!! of THIS cashier at churches named CHRISTINA she was very rude, was not polite, unprofessional, didn't offer any extra item to my order, was not helpful at all. However the manager KEISHA.... I have to say took care of the situation and was so so professional, polite, compassionate, and very very helpful. I had asked for a refund because of my order was not the way I asked for it, CHRISTINA who was the cashier and took my order seemed to have an attitude she didn't inform me of what I can and cannot have in the order that I placed. Miss KEISHA the manager came over and said all she wants is another thigh why would I give her a refund??! Simply give her another thigh! Once my order was redone it was completely different than the order I received from the cashier CHRISTINA. It was fresh hot and delicious as always. however the one CHRISTINA gave me look dry and old, not the usual that I get from here. It may sound Petty to someone however when you pay ANY amount of money for food you want it the way you asked for it to be prepared. I just really want to keep praising Miss KEISHA the manager who was the complete opposite of the cashier CHRISTINA!! CHRISTINA needs to go back in training for social skills, Customer Service skills, stay off her cell phone while she's at work, pay attention to the customer's order, offer me additional items to go with my food. As well as she should've ask me to fill out the survey on the back of my receipt. I believe since she knew how rude and unprofessional SHE(CHRISTINA) did not want me to take the survey. Again CHRISTINA really really needs to take her issues that she has outside of this establishment and put it in her pocket before she walks in the door. I pray someone takes this post seriously and take action especially since this is to me the Best churches...

This place is RIDICULOUS!!! They’re out of white meat chicken!! For two weeks This place claims that they have been out of white meat chicken because of the pandemic and there’s a shortage on white meat well it’s a lie I went over to the other churches chicken they have white meat went to the one in the city they have white me and management states that they were out of white meat because of the pandemic And then went on to state that all of the churches chickens were out of white meat so she threw all of the churches chickens under the bus only to be lying on them. Also I ordered through door dash very often I only order white meat. It never fails every time I order white meat they send all dark meat or half dark meat half white meat if they have the white me. It’s really ridiculous and when you try to get in touch with the owner of this place it’s a joke the number doesn’t work he leaves no email address no way to get in touch with him at all. So my question is when everybody is stating support black businesses Don’t you have to support your own damn business before anybody else can support it? how do you not have white meat or chicken tenders when you’re a chicken shack? It starts with you it starts with your performance and your quality of service and at the end of the day this churches shouldn’t even be called churches it should be called we have chicken sometimes. it’s really sad. Oh did I mention they were out of ice too. Now how the hell are you out of ice in the break ok winter.
