I'm vegan, but was craving enchiladas. I called Patron and inquired about their sauces used on their cheese enchiladas. I was told they had five. But two are vegetarian. So three of us went there for dinner. I ordered off the vegetarian menu. My sister wanted two chili rellnos, they wouldn't do that, but only one and one of something else. When she asked to have a vegetarian sauce used instead of the regular one made with chicken broth, the manager said there was an extra charge for the sauce. I told the manager we were leaving because it's the principal of the thing. Why charge for a sauce that makes the customer happy. It isn't more money, can't be, no meat in it. He said it's a Mexican restaurant and that's how they make Mexican food. Their rice has chicken broth, their refried beans have lard. Apparently they haven't learned that more and more people are eating healthier. I told him that my daughter's family won't come here, nor will we, we do not eat animals. They lost seven local customers. And will lose more as time goes by because they won't improve on their menu and change with the times. Europe is far ahead of the USA. There are so many vegan restaurants in Europe that it is as easy as just walking down the street to find one. Hopefully, we will get nicer, smarter, and healthier as time goes by. P.s. A great vegan Mexican Restaurant is Gracias Madres but only in north Hollywood or Newport Beach. By the way, we went to Cisco's on las arboles and found their chips excellent, the service wonderful and the vegetarian food great! No...
Read moreI took my parents there for dinner because I love their tacos. My Mom and I ordered the Two Taco Combination plates with side salads and my Dad the Avocado Salad. Three side salads were delivered. We tried to tell the Spanish speaking server that we only had two side salads. My Dad even said to him that he ordered the Avocado Salad for his entree. He still put all three side salads down on the table and left. After our first bites, Not 60 seconds later, the server, Kimberly, came out to our table and said she would have to take the third side salad back or charge us. I said, “Your helper left all three after we tried to tell him we only had two!” She, again, said it didn’t matter she would have to charge us or take it. I said, “It’s just 3 bites of lettuce, and my Dad has already eaten from it!” She again firmly said she takes it or we pay for it. I said, “So you are going to throw this measly little salad out just to make a point?” She just stared at us. Then my dad said, “Just take it!” Wow! What horrible business practice! Not only that, I was REALLY embarrassed that my parents witnessed this!” I will never eat...
Read moreThis review is for take-out. The server was friendly and efficient. The portion was huge (see photo), and comes with soup and chips. I'm not a big eater, so for $14.95 I ended up with literally enough for 3 meals. To me that's a great value! They offer 3 enchilada sauces: tomatillo, Rojas & ranchero. I chose the ranchero sauce, which was delicious. It is the authentic 'orange' rather, than the thicker, tex-mexy red sauce that many places have. The cheese appears to be a Jack Cheese blend, so it is white and creamy. My only disappointment was the Guacamole, which was overly processed and too acidic. The salsa was excellent, and tasted very homemade to me. If you are looking for something "light" - like most "mex fresh" chains - this is NOT that. This is old school, full fat, food-coma Mexican food. Now excuse me while...
