In previous visits, i rated this restaurant a Five +. But not this time. Even though it wasn't busy at all, in the three times i visited on this trip, the service was terribly slow. It seems like the place in understaffed. Also, the prices have gotten ridiculously high. On my last visits the prices were a little on the high side, but worth the quality of the food. Not this time. I had ordered cheese blintzes and a corned beef sandwich. I had specifically asked that the cheese blintzes be brought out first, and then the sandwich later. Instead I got a side salad first, and before I was halfway through that salad, I was served both cheese blintzes and the corned beef sandwich. I don't like eating cold food. I had asked for the sandwich to be taken back and kept warm until I had time to properly eat my cheese blintzes. My server seemed a little reluctant to do that, but in the end she did. After I finish the cheese blintzes, my server came out with my sandwich that had been obviously placed under a heat lamp, and as such the bread was now so dried out it was like biting into a piece of wood, and the meat inside the sandwich was completely dried out. They chose the lazy way out instead of providing me with some fresh bread and slightly less cooked meat. As much as I love this place before, I will be a little more reluctant to...

I have been a fan of pickles restaurant in Newbury Park on the frontage road by the freeway there...for Many Years. they finally hit the bottom. apparently the manager doesn't care about the freshness of the food that they serve. there were very few customers in the store on Sunday... a few sat outside I went inside with my friend. I ordered a triple decker sandwich roast beef pastrami and turkey... When you go to a deli you're supposed to get something fresh, meat sliced that day, that's the ultimate deli ! I received roast beef that had that 'three or three day old refrigerator smell' you know... 'it's time to throw it out ...'you might get sick if you eat it smell'. I don't have a great nose... but it was there very on it ...probably two or three days old. the cook just slapped it in my dinner there and shoved it out the window. that means the manager's not on the cooks... and the cooks don't care. it also shows the manager is being very cheap and the owner of the restaurant doesn't care about the quality of the food anymore. I was sick from 12:30 at night till 6:00 in the morning I won't tell you what happened to me but it was very bad and I will never eat there again. The only way I will take this post down is with a apology from the restaurant owner I felt like I was going to die. Tell...

I’ve been coming here since the day they opened. Consistently GOOD! I’ve never ever had a bad meal here. We have had our house under construction with no kitchen for the past two months. We’ve been eating out at almost every restaurant in a 50 mile radius of our home. I forgot about Pickles being local and was craving an omelette. Usually food “to go” doesn’t taste as good as dining in the restaurant but we got it to go and I forgot how incredibly good the food is here. I had a cappuccino, beautiful omelette, and a very large portion of fried potatoes. For the past two months not a single restaurant has tasted exceptionally delicious or even close. Ever since the pandemic, nothing tastes as good as it used to in the restaurants. I assumed restaurants are using cheaper ingredients, but pickles tastes better than ever . I’m so glad this restaurant is local. One of the best places in Newbury Park and there’s not much to choose from in this immediate area. All the GOOD restaurants are in LA or Westlake Village. I’m so relieved sitting here eating my delicious meal after having bad food for the last two months. I was so inspired I called the manager just now to let them know what a relief it was to have good food !! Get a B&W...

For a local deli in a small town, the food is very good. I've had many things on the menu and been relatively pleased every time. No one in my family complains about their food and they all seem to enjoy it. The price is right for what you get. There is nothing specific that I'd recommend as everything I've had is okay, but I've also had better. However, their desserts are a bit underwhelming which is a shame since desserts are usually my favorite part of a deli. The cream in their eclairs is not good. My daughter, who eats almost anything sweet, wouldn't even eat it... it's only the second dessert I've ever seen her turn down in her entire life. I've tried their cheesecakes, which were okay, but not great. Their cupcakes were very basic and uninspiring. The frosting was mediocre, I believe it was a basic American buttercream. Worth the money, but probably skip the desserts, they look better than they taste.

Went there because I was craving a Monte Cristo sandwich. One of the girls from work mentioned a Monte Cristo a few days ago. It was the closest place so if I went. The place itself is pretty large, at least larger than u expected and CLEAN! The menu is large as well. I knew what wanted so when the server came to the table I immediately said what I wanted and that was that. It took a little longer to get than I think it should have given it wasn't busy when I got there, but that was fine. Great sandwich, a little greasy at first but great nonetheless. I ordered it with a side of steak fries and those were ok. It came with a side of strawberry jam and sour cream. The sour cream send odd at first but works really well with the jam. I'll definitely be back and order it again. It maybe try something else from the menu. Great service, great food, you can't go wrong.

I hate to post negative comments about restaurants and the food but this is unacceptable on so many levels. Although the size of this roast beef sandwich was massive, you can clearly see that the meat is not fresh. It was multi colored and had a smell and very bad taste. It was not fresh at all and the meat had been sitting around in the walk in for some time. This is what I would expect from a restaurant that has 500 things on the menu. You can’t expect everything to be done well when you do so many different things. The menu is out of control and overwhelming just to thumb through. The soup was good I will say. Great flavor and loved the veggies in it.
