When I feel like curry for dinner, I go to Exotic Thai. Preferably the location off Kanan Road/Lindero Canyon though. This location, while much closer to home, has much lower quality standards.
At my most recent visit, I was served Tom Ka Gai with a chunk of ginger as big as my thumb, and the potatoes in my Karee Gai were undercooked and could have done with being sliced in half. The curry itself was unusually thin as well. My Pad Thai was a bit soggy (still reasonable though). My Pineapple Fried Rice had only a single shrimp. When I placed my order, the employee taking it kept trying to predict what I was saying (out loud) and thus I had to correct her three times.
Hopefully they correct course in the future, but they should definitely take notes from the excellent quality and service of the Kanan/Lindero location.
EDIT: I've come back twice since my initial review, and they have gotten worse. Ordered the pineapple fried rice, received it BURNT. Their prices are absurd enough on their own, but compound that with 0% QA and you've got nothing but a recipe for disaster. Sorry, y'all lost my business, and referrals,...
Read moreBeen coming here for years. Part of the local Exotic Thai chain now individually run & owned by each of the partners. I've eaten at all of them & while the menu is very similar this one is just a cut above the others.
Small place in a small mall near Starbucks & Sharkys with friendly, welcoming staff. The Conejo Valley has a number of good Thai restaurants and this place sits up there among that group.
Try the tom yum noodle soup. It's a standout. You can order it all day here whereas it's only available during the lunch menu at the other Exotic Thai branches. The garden salad here is really crispy & fresh with a nice sweetness from the peanut sauce dressing.
The mixed vegetables here with shrimp is excellent. I keep trying to find somewhere in Thai Town that makes this dish as good as they make it here & never found anyone that comes close. Have them stir-fry in some fresh serranos for a...
Read moreOue recent experience reminded me why I dont spend my own money here and i love Thai food, just not this place. We received a gift card so decided to get takeout. We ended up spending $80+ $10 tip for takeout.
What you see in the photo is what cost $80.
Absolutely regret tipping because whoever packed it put the Garden Spring rolls on top of all the hot curry and ribs. They are meant to be served cold. So we tipped them to make bad food even worse.
The curry is flavorless and overpriced at $17/ea. We had yellow and green. Both with a miniscule portion of chicken. Probably less than 2oz per order.
Even with three entree orders we only got 1 serving of rice. Ended up having to make our own rice at home.
We wont return. Even if I ever get another gift card here ill just re-gift it to someone...
