Nice vibe and close by Wilmington river is a plus, on the way to E.W Honey Park. Interior and exterior decor of the 80's vintage with fake grass and gas ⛽ stations. Kinda cool 😎 vibe. Food is okay, fitting with the atmosphere. We had an order of the Silver Dollar pancake 🥞 with syrup and butter. The pancakes are light, but not moist, and good bite size. They're served on porcelain plate and utensils. The tomatoes soup tasted a bit like from the can, served in a plastic container (quite confusing and plastic spoon). I mean if one dish is served in the porcelain and utensils, shouldn't the rest of them be too?! Otherwise, go all out with the plastic. Although I would not prefer plastic for the price, but it's quite inconsistent. We also have a Millennial Avocado 🥑 toast with egg. Quite good on the mashed avocado and toasty clabatta. It's nicely presented, but in a paper plate for $12 😁😂. The cold Lavender Latte is refreshingly good 👍😊

Rare find while vacationing in Tybee! Perfect stop for before or after a Bonaventure Cemetery tour. The fried cauliflower was literally one of the best things I have ever tasted! Anywhere. Honestly. Find this place and try it. All of the flavors together are so incredible - it melts in your mouth and you will not be able to stop eating it! It’s also all vegetarian which is an added plus…We also had perfect egg salad sandwiches with nicely toasted buns and pickles (yum, the pickles were a nice touch)…Can’t say enough about the uniqueness of this little place - if I lived here, I would most definitely become a “regular”. Had a wonderful chat with the owner too; so genuinely kind as was all of the staff. Don’t miss Finches!

I've had a bunch of their sandwiches now and say definitely each one is a winner. The Works is a surprisingly novel and delicious take on a breakfast sandwich (i.e. its not more of the same bacon egg and cheese standard) and everything with their house-made pickles is on fire. Often enough they have Auspicious pastries for sale and there's lots of other cool stuff going on in the "sundries" part of the lil joint. I may be biased because I am a resident of Thunderbolt, but it's hard not to think this is one of the cooler places to get some grub in these parts. One sort of disappointment is the coffee...it's fine at best. Maybe get some bubbles instead.

4/7/24 Another perfect beautiful delish day in Thunderbolt at Finches😎 We ate early, chicken salad sooo good said my walking buddy and late, Mac is Back for me with La Freida burger, bun with black & white sesame seeds! That sauce❣️, generous amount of melty cheese, shredded lettuce.😋 Shout out to Jaime, co-owner in the kitchen plus Izzy & Wallace making it all happen out front. Hello to Rebecca, other co-owner on a Sunday buzzing around. Her beautiful baby girl even got to show up for some fun. Thanks Dad.👶🏻

Cannot think of a better place to be in SAV on a glorious Sunday. Sit. Eat. Chill.

Time for a new update: 4/15/23 Chef Nikki worked her magic on brisket and chicken kabobs. OMG, Saturday was a magical day weather wise and then I discovered 2 new dishes Finches. What. A. Perfect. Day. Chunks of barbque brisket on a cornbread bun. Heaven. Also got (always to go because there will be leftovers Yay!!) the jerk chicken kabobs with a creamy sauce on them and also on the side with shredded lettuce. Had some heat, but the best kind. Had to share at home, of course. A+ grade on both, Chef Nikki. Keep 'em coming. Best way to snag some of the specials. Go to Finches in Thunderbolt often! XO It's my fav therapy on so many levels.

A year later and had to add an update: I could eat Chef Miles kale soup with potatoes, beans and sausage every day for lunch!! Don't knock it if you haven't tried it, kale haters. Sooo good and makes me feel healthy after. Going for 3 days in a row on this Thursday.

Just scored another couple of sandwiches from my fav place to eat for the past year plus. Staff always so friendly and helpful. Love the options of sitting in a well ventilated indoor space or the wonderful spacious and fun outdoors. Just like the name of the former service station that Finches inhabits, it is a Pure pleasure to eat here or grab some to go for after walking around my neighborhood.

Keep it coming, Finches Magicians, WE Love what you're offering!!

P.S. That Bay of Pigs sandwich is sooo good!! Thanks, Chef Miles : ) And lo siento to Jesse Blanco, but you gotta try this blast off take on what I would call a Cuban sandwich. It will be very hard to go back. And I grew up in northcentral FL during the 1960s enjoying all the culture that Cuban refugees...

When I moved to Thunderbolt from downtown two years ago, I was worried that I’d mourn the ability to walk and grab coffee and a bite from a quality place in my neighborhood.

Luckily, Finches made sure I didn’t have to. It was the first meal I had when I moved and I’ve been hooked ever since, consistently dropping by and constantly dragging friends to try it out, some of whom have become regulars themselves.

The rotating menu ensures that there’s always a new angle at which to enjoy the food. It’s always fresh, always exciting, and genuinely delicious. Perfect for a bite before or after the beach or a relaxing lunch with good company. It’s dog friendly, kid friendly, and impeccably designed. The store items are ALWAYS hilarious and interesting, unlike the selection anywhere else in the area.

But honestly, the true magic is the spirit at the center of it all. The owners are as cool as they come, hilarious and welcoming. It’s less like going and patronizing a business than hanging out at a friend’s house. They are literally always innovating and stretching the possibilities of what the space can do and offer to the community from local markets to drag shows. They are unapologetically confident in their product, bending over backwards to help those who need it and refusing to back down in the face of unrealistic expectation (see their review responses to their very few negative reviews on here). They are Finches and if Finches isn’t your thing, that’s on you. A business with such a strong sense of who they are is one that needs to be treasured.

As I move back closer to downtown, Finches is really the one true thing I’ll miss having consistent access to. I’m not sad, it just means all my future visits will be that much special.

Thank you for being my coffee home for...

If you are shopping or seeing a movie at the shopping center on Victory Drive just off Truman Parkway, you must build in time for lunch at Finches Sandwiches & Sundries. This is a sweet little sandwich shop with a small, but delicious menu. There is very limited seating indoors and although there was a table inside for us, we opted to dine outdoors. Even on this 90° Savannah summer day, I saw not a single bead of sweat on anyone. The front patio is shaded and the large ceiling fans provide a constant and pleasant breeze. I chose their ham & Swiss served on a super fresh and delicious ciabatta with a mayo-mustard-wasabi condiment and crispy lettuce. The menu changes daily and you’ll find something to delight all your dining companions. And . . . yes girlfriends, you can enjoy a summer cocktail with lunch. These brave superstars opened their little shop during the pandemic and that they were able to survive during the worst of times for restaurants says it all! The location is easy to find and you’ll be glad you did; it’s just off Victory Drive at 2600 Mechanics Avenue in...
