Benchwarmers Restaurant and Delivery — Restaurant in Tiffin

Recently the service seems to really be lagging. Several times we have tried to patron this location. It is understandable that with the recent shortage of help that the staff may seem a bit short handed, but our past 2 times in the servers are dismissive and rude. The atmosphere is uncomfortable at best. No one sitting in the restaurant appeared happy to be there and the servers didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in. This evening we came in as a party of 5. Seating is limited and it was full, which we were glad to see. We asked if sitting out back was possible. Not only did the girl act annoyed with us, but she literally just handed the menus to us and we had to walk ourselves out back. No communications as to she would be out in a few minutes or anything. As a test we set our timer for 8 mins. At the 8 min. mark we got up and walked out of the bullpen. As we were exiting she finally came out, but didn't even seem to care we were walking out. The real shame is that the food has been really good here, and we have enjoyed the weekday staff. It has been slow a few times, the atmosphere has made it worth the waiting. We were in town on a college visit and stumbled across a Benchwarmers menu. There is a nice variety of burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and sides. Since we were tired from our drive and didn't feel like going out, the fact that Benchwarmers delivers sealed the deal for us. DH's Steakhouse burger which was piled high with sauteed mushrooms, peppers, and onions was very tasty. DD1 enjoyed her Cowboy burger. My Chili burger was the bomb. I am not a fan of mustard, but the Carolina Mustard added a new dimension to my burger. (I did swap out the hot pepper cheese with American.) The burgers were all great, but DD2's BLT was lacking. The bacon was in pieces instead of strips so she did not get the full bacon flavor she was expecting. We also ordered the pizza fries which were good and the standout fries which were seasoned with parmesan cheese were outstanding. (Even better when dipped in ranch dressing.) We also got a large House Salad to share, which was your standard tossed salad.

Delivery cost $2.50 to our hotel. I believe delivery is free to the universities. The gentlemen who took my order over the phone was helpful and cordial. As was the deliveryman.

It's a small pub and not a lot of tables . I didn't expect it to be so crowded during the middle of the week for lunch but after getting our food I understand why. For the prices it was pretty cheap the kids meals were just enough and they ate it all and said it was good. The wings were yummy and they said the hamburgers and chicken chunks were good. The wait time was long but it was worth it. The waitress deserves a raise for her effort on waiting and serving all the tables by herself. Probably the cook also. Go try it out the menu was a lot of stuff and if I didn't live 1 hour and 40 minutes away I would go there often. The fries are like fair Fry's so yummy the bowl was a large we shared between 4 of us . Bone in wings price varies ours was 8.99 for 6 . They also had larger portions.
