Chapos Tequilas & Grill — Restaurant in Tifton

We eat Mexican all the time. I have eaten Mexican food all over Tifton Ga. Some advertise "Best Mexican Food In Town". I can tell you that Chapos has "THE BEST" hands down, no comparison, Mexican food in town. Simply AWESOME!! Don't waste your time with the other mass-produced, fastly prepared Mexican food in Tifton. Go to Chapos. You can tell by just the rice and beans for starters (awesome). My personal favorite is the Pollo Fundido but the steak dishes are awesome! When is the last time you went to a Mexican restaurant, orded a steak dish, and they asked you how you wanted your steak cooked? They do a Chapos and you can tell the difference. Chapos steak dishes are juicy and FULL of flavor. Everywhere else.....cooked to death and tasteless. Other Mexican restaurants in town need to eat there once and see how its done. Keep up the great work Chapos!!...

It appeared that half the restaurants in Tifton were Mexican food, and Chapos had the highest rating at 4,5. They spent a lot on funky Muertos art and blown glass chandeliers that were just shy of gaudy, so kinda fun except for the cheap strip mall construction of the building. Sort of lipstick on a pig decor. Staff was friendly although I don’t think anyone front of the house spoke Spanish. Food was OK. I got the carnitas, and it has a flavorful tomatillo sauce, but could have been cooked at least another half hour to be more tender. My colleague ordered the steak fajitas and was satisfied. We go to Mexican restaurants each night that we are on the road and thus, get a good sampling of those from Florida to Chicago and beyond. To us, this is one of the best. I rate it high on authentic, they have molcajetes, use poblano, jalapeño and other Mexican peppers, even cactus leaves. And they do a fine job. Food is taste, Margaritas are good, although we add an extra shot to each so we drink only one each rather than two. Last night, our waitress/bartender was Victoria. She was actually waiting tables but came over and bartended for us. Seemed like are bartender was spending the evening serving a couple she knew.
