Planet Fitness — Local services in Tifton

I would like to start by saying I chose Planet Fitness because the location in Escondido California 1256 Auto Park Way, was very nice and welcoming and really sold themselves to me. Unfortunately, I am a traveling professional and my contract there ended so I returned home to Tifton Ga for a while. I was told that I could use any Planet Fitness anywhere in the United States. Another Plus! Long story short I transferred my Membership to my home planet Fitness in Tifton. I went there to work out. I began my workout shortly after I was approached by (I will refer to her as Kerian) Karen: Excuse me but we don't allow video recording. Me: Really? Karen: It's policy. Me: OK (I proceed to work out.) I didn't want to make a scene but 1st of all why did you assume I was recording? My phone was facing me not you! There was no one else in the area I was in. Anyway, after I finished my workout but not before I researched and found out that it was a general rule of all Planet Fitness that you could definitely record your workouts. Me: I just want to talk to you about your no-recording policy. How was I supposed to know that this location doesn't allow recording? You should have it posted so that everyone can see and be treated the same. Keren: Yeah, you can google it look on the website Me: Yeah I did and it says here that it is definitely allowed. Show her on my phone Karen: Well it's a policy here. Me: do you have that in writing because it isn't anywhere in my contract? Karen: NO it's just how we do things I am the general manager. Me: OK then I turn and leave. I called Cooperate they told me that no matter the location the GENERAL RULE FOR ALL PLANET FITNESS recording personal videos are allowed as long as no other members were included in the video. This was obviously racist. They were supposed to get back in touch but never did. This was 9/23/23 today 10/13/23 I went to work out at a Jacksonville FL location and my app has been deactivated Unbeknownst to me they canceled my membership that day 9/23 for a policy violation. Retaliation at its finest. Took my money on 9/17 canceled my membership on 9/23 and is refusing to give me back any money. Even the guy at the Florida location said they were treating me dirty. I just wanted it to be known that I have experienced racism at Tifton Planet Fitness and they took my money. I just want you to know PF that God is keeping score. I called back to Planet Fitness headquarters and let them know about them canceling my membership and they advised that there is nothing...

I am a member, and I love the club in Tifton, GA. It is terrifically clean and the staff present themselves as open and friendly. The Tifton Club Manager Spencer should be recognized for all of his hard work and dedication and great personality. He ensures that his staff are on task and on top of seemingly everything. They are constantly cleaning and checking to make sure the equipment is working properly, and Spencer... Spencer is the hardest working Manager I have seen in a long time. He is never idle and just hanging out, he manages to always look busy either working on the computer or helping a member or potential member or giving his staff some type of direction or cleaning or surveying the club in some manner. He definitely leads by example, as he cleans feverishly himself on a regular basis. That lets your staff know that the task is not lowly or demeaning, and it lets them know that he is not requiring them to do something that he doesn't or wouldn't do himself. I mean my goodness, he cleans the windows nearly everyday if not actually everyday. It just feels really good to know that you are paying for membership to a place that seems to value and appreciate the members enough to keep the club a clean and safe environment and one with a great atmosphere because of the behavior of the staff is warm, welcoming, and friendly rather than you being able to tell that they hate their jobs and/or would rather the members not bother them. Such a poor experience the bathrooms were clean and so was the gym but the AREA MANAGER gave us the worst day, See? I travel alot for work and I happened to stop by last week I worked out and thought this gym was good then left town to NC and got back today after a week and I happen to be by the same gym it was late at night and we slept overnight due to working out late and knocking out so tired. We are members today the AREA MANAGER HARRASSED US to the point where she drove her car right by ours and started screaming that we couldn't sleep overnight again to which we responded okay no problem we won't and she left without saying anything else, we started to get ready to leave and she called the cops on us to make us leave. We already were leaving!!jesus the cops had no idea what to do or say they asked us POLITELY to leave even tho we are members and it was day time. Our mistake was sleeping overnight and I get that but when you travel the country from coast to coast and see a big gym with more than 50 open spots and THERE ARE NO NO OVERNIGHT SIGNS you think is okay to take a nap and not get HARRASSED. The area manager HARRASSED us and deserves to be told this is not okay this isn't a way to treat members she could have asked us POLITELY to leave not call the cops on us.
