Before I get into the earned criticism around this dining experience, I'll share that my original review was a 3 of 5. After being blatantly disrespected in front of an entire bar of patrons by the bartender, I've landed on a 1-star rating. I originally planned to dine here with another couple a few days prior. We decided on another place for logistical reasons, so The Attic was still on my radar. I sat at the bar and had a cocktail, which was fine. The bar menu in my opinion, could be a bit more robust considering they tout the bourbon selection highly. I decided on an item with fries and my fries were barely warm. I asked for them to be replaced with fresh fries, and no more than 7 minutes, they arrived..warmer. Not fresh, not hot. I decided not to finish those and didnt engage the bartender further as he would have awareness around the fact that they weren't being consumed. He said nothing so we waited to pay the bill. As we were wrapping up, I told the bartender these couldn't have been made fresh as requested. I did not have an aggressive tone, but I was met with an aggressive tone and disrespect. The bartender commenced to tell me he doesn't make the food, he took their (kitchen) word for it among other blunt statements. No apology, and completely inappropriate in front of a bar full of patrons. I was shocked at the lack of professionalism and later located the manager (Roy) to share my experience and suggest a re-education around service practices. Frankly, this person needs to reflect and decide if they are in the right industry for them. Ultimately, I'm holding the establishment accountable for their staff and this warranted no more than 1-star. Topping that, my husband and I got ignored for roughly 10-15 minutes afterward as we were clearly trying to close out our bill. It turns out the bartender intentionally ignored us, deciding he would no longer address or serve us in any way without any communication. While I was looking for a manager to express my concerns, my uber patient husband was being ignored and ultimately, was handed the bill by another server. All this literally because there was no awareness or concern over if I enjoyed my food. Fries. Is that not to goal of food service? A complete. service failure with the exception of the apology from Roy, the manager, which is all I would have asked for. Another note, if this bartender "flipped" over a basic expectation communicated respectfully, then I am not his problem. He is, and that will be very apparent in his interactions with customers and peers...
Read moreThis one is a hard one. One half of our meal was delish, and the other was undercooked and under seasoned. One half of our service was perfect, the other half we went without drink refills. I’ll elaborate. The chicken wings and the salmon* bowl were wonderful (*they even accommodated my request to get it with chicken). My son got fries and chicken fingers. He didn’t like them. Said the chicken was a weird texture and bland. He said the fries were strange. I tried a fry and tend to agree. I’ve never had a fry like that. Definitely room for improvement. My husband got the lemon chicken. It was literally undercooked on the piece by the bone. First, why do restaurants serve “airline” chicken cuts in 2025? They aren’t fancy…they are more of a pain in the butt. Bone meat doesn’t cook as fast therefore it didn’t cook evenly. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize it until he had eaten most of it. I also had a bite. So now we both sit here praying we don’t get food poisoning from it. The lemon chicken sauce was an odd flavor. I will say the mashed potatoes were very good and you could tell they were homemade. We showed the waitress the under done section of chicken and she did the right thing showing the manager who came over and shared the bone piece can be tough to get done etc. He apologized and removed from the bill and provided I think gave us an additional discount. So they definitely did the right thing which I appreciate. But my thought was, if it is known to be a problem, why are we still serving it- I mean, the chicken came already sliced- why wasn’t that being checked. It would have been the simplest thing to have caught before. I would have thought that would have been why it was being sliced- to double check. The cook or the line person should be checking that on everyone. They really just need to scrap that dish. The atmosphere is cute and quaint. We didn’t order cocktails, but the ones we saw the bar making...
Read moreWent for an early dinner around 5pm with the family. We ate here last year and the food was really good and the service was excellent so Im going to be factual with my comments as I have no preconceived biases.
The restaurant was relatively quiet when we were seated with maybe 2-3 other tables being occupied. My wife and I and 2 of our children ordered the French onion soup to start as we had done in the past. The soup came out ice cold and pretty much bland. We were very polite and let our server know about it and she took the soups back to the kitchen (I haven’t sent food back in like 15 years). They brought the soups back about 10 minutes later still not piping hot but whatever. Our server basically said that because we sent the soups back to be heated up that threw off the timing of our entrees. So our main courses arrived about 40 seconds after our soup did and unfortunately they were ice cold too. I ordered the boneless honey BBQ wings which were cold and rubbery. My son had the chicken sandwich which he completely left because he said it too was cold but didn’t want the kitchen staff to feel bad because we already sent the soups back. My little guy also ordered the boneless chicken wings and they were piping hot and the girls ordered salads and Mac n cheese which they said were good.
There was no manager in site and nobody really seemed to care too much that our dinner was pretty much a disaster. That’s the unfortunate part about this experience as the restaurant business is all about good quality food and great customer service. That’s what keeps families coming back and when families come back everyone wins. My intention of this review is not to bash anyone or anything as it’s intention is to inform the team at the Attic that they just have to do better. It’s all about being attentive to your customers and paying attention to the little details that make a...
