Looks like mine is the only negative review, but I have to be honest with my experience.
I ordered the "Seatfood pizza" - small. Toppings: crab meat and shrimp. Also ordered a small chef's salad. This was my first time visit ever to Gino's and I've lived here for over 40 years.
The salad was moderately tasty, but I could not quite finish it. Partly my fault here. I had forgotten what all the contents of a Chef's salad were and that one of those is whole boiled eggs. A half of one was in my salad. I don' t like eggs much. Unless their distinctive flavor (mainly the latent sulphuric oder) is covered up or concealed some how, I tend to gag on them. That happened here - despite an attempt to cut it up into tiny pieces and cover it thoroughly with a generous portion of ranch dressing and mixing it with the other ingredients - all that did was spread the 'eggy' taste around. The salad itself, despite being labelled 'small' was really too much to eat. So with the boiled egg and the salad's size, I was unable to finish it.
As for the pizza: the crust did not have the flavor I expected from it (I usually eat Marco's Pizza or Pizza Hut's). The seafood meats themselves tended to give the pizza itself an unappetizing flavor and oder. I tried my best to eat the pizza, but in the end found myself removing the shrimp from it in a vain attempt to turn the pizza into a cheese only pizza. However, the crab had become so integrated with the pizza that it could not be separated from the crust or the cheese. I did manage to get down all but two pieces. That however, was due to a habit instilled in me as a child to clean my plate. The result of that was I gagged on the pizza several times in the process.
Though technically my supper-time hunger pangs were stilled, effectively my evening meal was ruined. ;-(
Looks like my first visit will be my last as I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Sorry, Gino's but that's my honest appraisal of your pizza. I'll be sticking to Marco's, Pizza Hut's and Papa...
Read moreThis is what I’m coming to say after my first visit here at this location on Alexis Road in Toledo, OH. First I want to give a complete high five to the team that was working there tonight. This was Thursday, July 13, 2023 at approximately 7 PM in the evening. Three young girls, and one young man and I only know his name is Caleb because of somebody calling for him. I don’t know who the owner is of the store or the higher manager but for you to let this team of people work under the conditions they were in; you ought to be ashamed of yourself for not keeping tabs on them and finding more help.
These people were in there, busting their tails off and there was no air conditioning going with over 82 degrees inside. You could feel in when you walked in there. Lines were lining up outside and there was at least three other people in front of me when I went on the inside. They deserve a high commendation. I can tell you that for what they were having to endure I most certainly wouldn’t. I get it no one wants to work these days and that’s a shame in itself but these folks were young and someone needs to make sure they are compensated somehow to so much as keeping them there.
Whoever you folks were working this night;...
Read moreThis place is so fascinating. They make arguably the best pizza in Toledo yet it's so horrendously under staffed that you'll be there no less than 10 or 15 minutes just to pick up a grab and go. Cars will sit (stupidly) in a line at the drive through for 20 minutes with out having a human come to the window (and you can SEE the people at the counter right THERE like some sort of passive aggressive taunt). I once walked past a line of cars in the drive through and in to the building to a line of about 6-7 people at the counter and maybe 1 or 2 tables. There was an old (and wise looking) man who got called for his pickup after a few minutes and walked out shaking his head at the people in line saying "I've never seen anything like this in my life" after being there for what only could have been an eternity to fluster such a mature person. I left and got taco bell because I knew it meant I'd be there for a lifetime.
If only they would pay a real manager to run the place there would be no issue. Still though, really awesome pizza kind of makes you deal with it if you know what it's...
