Pete's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Tolleson

So I went to Pete's fish and chips because I had a bat of nostalgia that I wanted to satiate. Had told all of my family from up North that this is one of the best fish and chip places in Arizona boy has it changed. So first of all I ordered about $80 worth of food this night and the way they pack the food together is very hard to discern specifically what is what until you fully open their brown paper bag and look at the contents. When I got home with all the food there was like four full meals missing from the back I went and review the receipt and the missing product were verified. I called the manager and explained the situation he was like well next time don't leave before checking your food and I laughed at him and explain to him they're packing process. He said that's my problem but he would replace the food only if I came back right now and if I had the receipt I said no problem I'll bring all the food back and I'll just take a refund please. All of a sudden his his tone change and he was like well we can replace all the food if you want it I was like that's what I was calling for before now this experience has burn me and I would just like to get a refund I will bring all of the food I have here that I purchased from you back. He said okay I'll be waiting.I got back to the restaurant and requested to speak to the manager and he would not come up to the window to talk to me the young lady who helped me was told to say a specific script of can I see your receipt here's your money have a good day and nothing else so I handed him their food back they said oh we can't take it back I said I don't want it and they said we don't want it either I turned around and saw a family in line and told them hey this food is fresh we just bought it here I don't want to throw it in the trash can so you can have it the family said really and took the food and walked away out of line that was the highlight of...

Fish a bit pricey, not even hand dipped fried cod pollock or haddock if you thought it might be. It looks like a very poor quality store bought fish square. The batter was a it overdone in my opinion.

To be fair this is second time in three weeks I've been to pick-up over at Pete's. This is at a different location from the first intentionally to validate issue was location or brand. It appears possibly a brand issue, though not enough data to be certain. I had last been to Pete's about 3 years ago and it was amazing. I'm from Boston so English Style fish and chips standards. What shrimp it was a crumb of shrimp and way to much batter. Won't happen again after 2 separate locations were not very good.

The 2nd location customer representative knew little about general information about products offered, nor very friendly.... This is in no way the Pete's I once remembered of about 3 years past. I wad charged for Tartsr sauce, ketchup but given Pete's special sauce I never liked and did not want. I much rather they kept their sauce and gi e me ketchup. I did not ask for extra but a meal or a large order such as I had should come with at least one tartar sauce per 5 piece fish and chip and 3 to 4 ketchup, more than that I would consider a small upcharge. So wow is all I can say. I am now not going back anytime soon, if ever, 50 dollars for what? Oh that's correct experience...

WHATS IN A NAME??? I get it, their signature item has always been their fish. If you are not getting fish and chips, don't bother. My wife likes their fish, but I'm not always in the mood for that, so I am happy that there are options. Over the last several years, I have tried several different menu items and have been very disappointed with them all. The menu is very diverse and I think this leads to the less than stellar quality. Everything aside from the fish is ALWAYS over cooked and dry. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are soooo dry, you need the signature Pete's sauce to choke them down, burritos are always burnt, unless extra crispy is your thing. I have tried to give this restaurant several chances, but they either don't care about the other menu items, or they just can't cook anything other than fish. The chicken pattie is always mutilated as they try to check the middle to make sure it is done, but for the love of PETE (pun fully intended) just set a timer and pull it when it is done..
