We stopped at Don Cinco to take a break from driving the interstate—and to be fair, the food was genuinely very good. However, I had a few issues with their business practices: Strike one: They attempted to charge a debit card fee, which is not permitted under Wisconsin state law or Visa’s policies. Strike two: The waiter suddenly pretended not to speak English and tried to take advantage of the fact that I didn’t have my reading glasses. Despite paying in cash, he still tried to sneak in the debit card surcharge. Strike three: They automatically added a gratuity for our group of four adults and two children, which seemed excessive and wasn’t disclosed up front. While I can’t deny the food was great, the way they conduct business left a bad taste in my mouth.

This was a nice little Mexican spot on our drive. It was very empty when we got there. For a week day. But the food was really good. Pretty tasty stuffed pepper, arroz con pollo was amazing. They don't really brew coffee, which we thought was really funny when my husband asked for a cup of it. He got 2 little cups with instant coffee and creamer to be added to a hot water cup. So just in case you ask for coffee, that's what you'll get. Their chips and salsa were good. The hubby had a steak quesadilla, and he really liked it. Overall, the food was great and the service was good.

For a Saturday night this place was not very busy, I figured the service would be decent however, I was wrong the waitress was slow and it seemed like they only had one to attend the entire restaurant. A group of about 10 people actually left because they would not be attended and had a long wait time. I sat at the bar and during that time customers had to walk over to the bar just to get service, and ask for the waitress to take their order. The food was okay not the greatest however they did get my order out in a decent amount of time. Would I come back? Absolutely not.

Was terribly disappointed by my experience here. Atmosphere is admittedly nice, sporting a cantina meets sports bar vibe, with decorative seating and not too much clutter. However, the positives of my experience end here.

Our table all ordered the same item, combo fajitas, while I also ordered a small queso with fresh diced jalapeno. Problems immediately arose when instead of queso I was given a cup of shredded cheese sans the peppers. I clearly stated the error, expecting it to be fixed in a timely manner. My queso made it out okay but somehow diced jalapeno turned into diced tomato. Again, I stated what was wrong and kindly asked for my order to be fixed. My jalapeno wasn't delivered until our food arrived (kinda kills the idea of an "appetizer") and it was STILL wrong, handing me a bowl of sloppily sliced jalapeno that I diced myself.

Then the fajita fiasco ensued. My combo fajitas had a single shrimp in it and barely any steak, while one member of my party had almost no meat on her plate in lieu of a mountain of pepper and onion. The fajitas themselves were passable at best with almost no spice, improved slightly by my hard earned peppers.

I'm not sure how much of this is just normal here or how much had to do with the staff in charge, but I've NEVER been so disappointed by a Tex Mex place. I COULD go on a busier day and hope for a better experience, but I'll likely just continue to...

Got two burritos and horchata here to bring back to my hotel room. Pulled everything out of the bag, got my straw out to puncture my horchatas lid to begin slurping up some of the delicious nectar of the gods, when I noticed a slight problem. There was a big ol ice chunk near the top of the lid that prevented my straw from getting to the nectar. Did I do the smart thing and remove the lid to circumnavigate the gigantic iceberg? Nope. I mustered all of my strength and began stabbing my straw through the lids hole at the enermous ice chunk in an attempt to destroy my nemesis and finally be reunited with my sweet cinnamon milky love. Three stabs on however, my icy foe parried my thrust and my straw punctured the side of my Styrofoam cup. I watched in utter HORROR as Horchata began spilling out of the straw sized hole! Acting quickly, I plugged the hole with my thumb and ran over to the sink, pleading with my friend, who was watching all of this unfold, to bring over the spare cups we had as I needed to perform an Horchata bypass from one cup to another. I still thank the gods to this day that the operation was successful and I was able to enjoy the sweet creamy flavor of the remaining 75% of my horchata. And I will tell you this, it tasted all the sweeter knowing that that stupid dumb stinky ice chunk didnt succeed in his dastardly plan. Also the burritos...

Went 5/5/17 right about 4 p.m. They expected to be busy, and brought on additional staff. Unfortunately, the server I had needed to keep asking questions about items to other staff. Good thing I got there right before the rush, or my questions probably wouldn't have been answered. The portions are small for what I paid, in comparison to restaurants of equal stature. That also includes the blue margaritas, which were brought out in disposable 12 oz. plastic glasses. The drinks themselves were strong, but not with $8. The chunky guacamole is delicious and made the way it's supposed to be - without jalepeno. Again, the price/portion ratio was still questionable - even with the cost of avacados rising. It was also ridiculously hard to see the guacamole in this super heavy bowl that was deep, and I'm 6'. The order of Chimichangas Verde with Carnitas came out, and it was off. The Carnitas was great along with the rest of the ingredients, but it was basically two soggy burritos. I asked about this, and mentioned that they needed to have a crisp to them. The server apologized, got the owner, who said it would be no problem to make it again, with them being crispy. The order was quickly brought back out, and it was made right. Wish it had been done right the first time. I like the place, but it really could use...
