I grew up in rural Wisconsin and am very familiar with authentic Wisconsin cheese. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t make cheese—they simply resell products from over 20 different sources. To make matters worse, much of their cheese isn’t even from Wisconsin!
Let’s talk about the cheese curds, a true Wisconsin staple. Fresh cheese curds should be warm and less than 24 hours old to have that iconic squeak. Here, they don’t even know when the curds were made—just when they arrived (once a week). By the time you get them, they’re cold and far from fresh. The smoked mozzarella sticks were another disappointment—overly salty, extremely dry, and didn’t even pull apart. The white cheddar (1 year and 3 year), farmer, and cojack cheeses were also disappointing.
I also tried their venison and elk sausage, which I didn’t like at all—and to my surprise, it was made with MSG! If I had known about the MSG beforehand, I wouldn’t have bought it.
Normally, I would buy cheese from a local dairy near my hometown, but I was short on time and stopped here based on a recommendation. Big mistake. Out-of-towners might not notice the difference, but if you’re looking for genuine, high-quality Wisconsin cheese, I can’t...
Read moreMy 10 yr old loves cheese so we stopped into this little place to try some and buy some on our road trip through Wisconsin.
There was no one behind the counter and some other customers were loitering near the cash register waiting to check out. My son asked if we could try some and I said to wait since there was no one around. We looked around and came back to the cheese counter on the way out. There was a lady working on something in the back so we stood by the counter by the sign that said "ask us to try our baby swiss". Eventually she noticed us and came over. At my promoting my son asked to try the baby swiss and was told "Honey we don't do that because of covid". I pointed at the sign and she said "oh okay and she went to get the obviously prepared samples". It's possible that she didn't know. It seems just as likely she didn't want to do it .
At this point I wanted to leave but my son really wanted to try a mozzarella parmesan blend so we bought it and got to experience checkout from an equally sullen lady at the cash register.
Maybe they were having a bad day but it'll be the last time we stop here.
The mozzarella parmesan blend cheese was pretty good though a bit soured by...
Read moreThis location is pretty awesome they have a pretty decent variety of cheese Jaggers and jerky and stuff like that but my initial choice to come there for some amazing String cheese.... I am thoroughly disappointed with the string cheese if I wanted to suck on a salt I would put a salt shaker in my mouth.
The string cheese is like a salt lick
I am not happy with the string cheese in this area.
It's a disgrace selling such pitiful standards of salty cheese.
It should have a warning label on it extremely salty and dry does not string at all. Must have been made with salt water and not milk.
I will be requesting samples of string cheese before I buy it from now on I don't like wasting 10 dollars.
I prefer to shop at cheese stores for quality artisanship masters of cheese work. It's a little less salty than the extremely huge barcode version which is even saltier.
All the other products I purchased taste pretty good including the unique beer flavored root beer 1919.
It is very unique made by a brewery has a beer like flavor even though I don't like beer this root beer...
