This is our second visit to ammi's kitchen Sunday Brunch. Usually we order catering or take out. The first time was a disappointment too. We went for Sunday brunch and had 5 people in our group. Everyone got food with a long interval in between each order. Tea was served before a few platters and went cold. It was not a big deal as we wanted to give them another chance. My friend later sent a review on their business account, especially mentioning the fact that their poori platter came with 2 pooris and those were not enough. It should be 3 pooris atleast. We were delighted to see a positive reply from the owner. He agreed that platter should come with 3 pooris and they would start that from next weekend. Today, we booked our tables for 15 people for Sunday brunch. Gave the order on the phone before arriving so that everything is served together on time. Like before, every order came separately and had a long wait until next one arrived. Few people from our group finished their food when others got theirs. Staff constantly had to be reminded to bring food. This time again we were served 2 pooris with platter. When we reminded the lady at the counter, she outright refused to acknowledge any such change in menu from the owner. When we asked to see the owner and showed her the message, she promised to let him know about it and bring him to talk to us. He did not come out the whole time we were there, despite us reminding the staff. When we paid the bill and were leaving, he came out and said he wants to talk to us. Thinking he would apologize and explain if there was a misunderstanding, he started making excuses like the business communications is not handled by him but it is done from Pakistan so he had no idea about it. He said they don't plan on adding a poori to the platter but when we come next time, he will serve us 3 pooris that time to make up for the reply. He kept arguing that nothing was promised but when we showed him the message which clearly said 3 pooris will be added from next weekend, he started arguing that they were really busy that day and he had sick kids at home so he had no time to change or update anything in the menu. Still did not apologize for not keeping word and for slow service. After giving up and arguing back and forth, we decided to leave. Apology was the only thing we were looking for. I did tell them I will be writing review as we were really disappointed with the service today to which he accused us of threatening his business. I politely told him that it was not a threat but every business has to do better and reviews help other customers learn. We have been a big supporter of ammis kitchen, since the time they were catering from home. We supported this business everywhere. However, they owner doesn't know how to retain loyal customers. We will not be...
Read moreThe chicken biryani at Ammi's Kitchen is undeniably one of the best in town. The dish is rich in flavors and spices that transport your taste buds to the streets of Pakistan.
The first thing that catches your attention is the aroma. The blend of spices and herbs that comes from the dish takes over your senses the moment it arrives at your table. The biryani is served piping hot, with tender and moist pieces of chicken that have been slow-cooked to perfection.
The rice used in the biryani is of excellent quality, and each grain is separate and fluffy. The addition of fragrant saffron and aromatic spices like cumin, coriander, and cinnamon make the biryani extra flavorful and savory. The chicken is marinated in a blend of yogurt, ginger, garlic, and garam masala, which makes it incredibly juicy and tender.
While some restaurants may place too much emphasis on the chicken, Ammi's Kitchen balances the flavors of the biryani perfectly. The dish is accompanied by a side of raita, a traditional yogurt-based condiment that's a perfect cooling contrast to the warm and spicy biryani.
Overall, the chicken biryani at Ammi's Kitchen is an exquisite dish that delivers on every aspect of what makes a fantastic biryani. From the quality of the ingredients to the careful preparation and attention to detail, everything about it is perfect. It's a dish that will satisfy your cravings and leave you dreaming of visiting Pakistan and trying more authentic dishes. Highly...
Read moreThis place looks small and unassuming from the outside but when you go inside it is like stepping into a whole new world. The food was outstanding I’m curious to know if it’s all made from scratch because it tasted like it. It didn’t taste processed at all. Warning to anyone who thinks they can handle spice because they’re used to having spicy foods from Louisiana and Texas, this is not that kind of spice. It had a slow burn affect where I ate a couple of bites and I was like oh yeah this is good not that spicy at all and then ate several more bites as the spice feeling was escalating on my tongue to the point where I was literally patting my tongue with a napkin it was so spicy. The waiter was very understanding about it and brought me some white rice to calm my tongue down. I’m sure they were cracking up laughing in the kitchen at me though lol. Our waiter was funny and told us all kind of cultural things about the food we were ordering and was extremely nice. We can’t wait to go back there again but next time I think I will leave off anything that has the spicy warning on it. Put it this way the food was so good I didn’t even take pictures of it. I just dove right in and devoured it. Some of these things I had never even heard of before and the ingredients were things you can’t buy at H-E-B. Highly highly...
