Crabby Rick's Shore Shack - Normandy Beach — Restaurant in Toms River

We’ve been coming here every summer for years, but sadly, this visit will be our last.

Our entire order was wrong. Items came out at completely different times, and even a simple garden salad arrived 40 minutes after our main meals. They forgot my child’s order altogether.

We mentioned multiple times that there was a food allergy to mayonnaise, and were assured there was none in the dish—yet the sauce served with the fish was clearly full of mayo.

The lettuce was wilted and starting to rot, the fish was overcooked and heavily overseasoned, and overall the food was just disappointing.

It feels like they’re cutting corners by staffing the place with mostly inexperienced teens. The food was overpriced—over $100 for a family of four, and not even full meals.

Crabby Ricks is A great spot. It is a road side rustic crab shack. The food is the freshest on the Jersey Shore. I ordered the lobster roll. It was overloaded with a heaping pile of lobster meat with no fillers. I have paid $25 for a lobster Roll full of mayo and half the amount of lobster in Maine. My wife had the fish tacos. The fish filet was caught that day and broiled while we waited. The taco was dwarfed by the huge fish filet. The seasoning was perfect and the portion was large. The onion rings were homemade and the batter was excellent with all the right seasonings. We bought a house a few blocks away and now we found our perfect LUNCH/DINNER spot. Would stay far away. Felt sorry for the two kids working, but terrible experience and customer service. No one greets you when you walk up tot he shack. After 5 minutes I had to ask how we order and the workers said to order online. No signage stating this whatsoever…had to ask about our food multiple times. Half of it was obviously done and the workers had no clue what food we needed to complete our order. Had to tell them to get us 5 drinks, a side of fries, and an extra burger patty to complete our order. Fries came out 30 minutes late never got the extra patty on the burger.
