Really small place, one Chef at the sushi bar. One person waiting staff and a person in the kitchen to assist with the cooked dishes. I've been turned down at least a few times as they were busy so I would strongly suggest to call ahead and inquire for reservation. I now know and would always call ahead unless I show up near the opening time 5:30pm. With that out of the way here is plenty of great reason for me to come back over and over even after being denied service few times as a walk-in. Their tuna selection seems very meticulous. A clear distinction of Tuna, Bluefin, Fatty and Extra Fatty Tuna. Not many places I've been to would be brave enough to have all 4 on the menu consistently. The baby sardine and few seasonal items on the sushi menu are delicious and highly recommend. The Chef doesn't appear to be interested in socializing or offering suggestions for the food but his work is art. My respect for that. Neat, clean and well organized with great attention to detail. It reminded me of "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" documentary where we westerners treat dining as socializing/hangout event and in Japan you hit'n run the food scenery 🤠😂 Won't even comment on the rest of the cooked dishes as they were up to the norm for all above average sushi places. Glad I found Ken's Sushi so close to home. Keep up the good work.

Quaint, traditional, and inviting atmosphere. Excellent service and friendly staff. I was having work done on my car nearby and was looking for somewhere to dine. There was a sign stating “reservations only” at the front door, however, they weren’t too busy at the time I arrived and they happily seated me. Since I was dining on my own, I chose to sit at the sushi bar. The sushi was fresh & delicious. The sushi prepared in the photo was the following: Blue Fin Tuna, Amberjack, Halibut, Japanese Mackerel, and Alfonsino. I highly recommend the Alfonsino. I will be back here for Omakase with my +1!

Cozy traditional restaurant. Arrived on a Saturday around 7pm and there was no wait. There's plenty of free self parking. Was greeted by the friendly staff and quickly seated. They offer lots of cut sushi options as well as a few cut rolls. The fish was very fresh and tasty. The rice used was of excellent quality and prepared very well. Felt it was a bit on the pricey side considering it's not in a fancy location or fancy ambience.

We enjoyed the Omakase at Sushi Ken after spending the weekend in Redondo Beach. It's located at the corner of a strip mall and was one of the few establishments that were open at the time. I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant because of the atmosphere and it reminded me a lot of restaurants in Japan.

The fish was fresh and the rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned well with vinegar and sugar. The most enjoyable sushi was actually ones we ordered off of the omokase, it was the otoro sushi and it was very delicate and priced at $10 for two pieces which is a steal.

In the omokase you get to enjoy salad and dozens of nigiri sushi as well as ice cream to finish the meal off. I believe the omokase was around $50 per person which is cheaper than many places you'll find in La proper.

Overall I would definitely come back and order more of the otoro but I'm glad I tried the omakase and definitely recommended for someone that is new to eating...

Order the Churashi sashimi bowl. Yummy

Update: I went there again today. So happy I live within walking distance of this place. The food makes me feel so good ! The fish is so fresh! I order the Churashi sashimi bowl again and an extra side of salmon sashimi and hot green tea and the steamed egg custard. The chirashi comes with miso soup. The rice in the churashi bowl has the best flavor. Such high quality authentic Japanese sushi. None of the Americanized overloaded crazy stuff. Just pure simple perfection. I’m in love. Go here. You will leave happy and you will find yourself thinking of their food often. You will crave it.you will return for more....
