Visiting The Mill! One of our favorite restaurants in the Montgomery County area! #foodie #food #foodreview #restaurant

First time there on 3/22/25. There are things I really liked about the Mill and things I didn't. The place is really cool, I liked the atmosphere. They were busy but not overly so. I ordered a burger. It took more than 25 minutes from when I ordered until they brought my food. I wasn't exactly in a rush, so okay. But then, after waiting that long, my food was cold. The burger was warm but the pulled pork and Mac & cheese on top was totally cold. It tasted good but would have been better if hot. Also, I ordered the burger with no bun and it was on a bun. Again, not a huge deal but a waste. I ordered the Dark Side of the Moon cake (I think that's what it was called). Most restaurants of this caliber would put some chocolate drizzle or a dollop of whipped cream or something on it. It was just a little round chocolate cake sadly on a saucer, nothing visually appealing about it. But again, it was delicious. Like I said, things I liked and disliked about the place. I just think they lack a bit in attention to detail. I will try it again!

The Mill is a charming restaurant with a rich history, housed in the old Kulpsville Feed Mill, built in 1894. After serving the farming community for decades and undergoing transformations, it became a family-run eatery in 1988. Renovated in 2015, "The Mill" blends historic charm with locally sourced comfort food. I ordered The Mill Melt, a BBQ chicken sandwich with caramelized onions, bacon, Gouda, and BBQ honey aioli. The flavors were fantastic, but the thick chicken breast made the last bites mostly bread and a little tough. Tenderizing the chicken to make it a little thinner (less tough) and fit the bread better would have improved the sandwich. The perfectly cooked sweet potato fries could benefit from a dipping sauce beyond basic ketchup. The staff was excellent, with prompt service and ensuring my iced tea stayed full. Overall, a great experience with minor tweaks needed for perfection!

Went there for lunch. The food and reviews looked good. I was excited to try their chicken Popeye. it was $13 for a bowl. I usually never leave this kind of one star review unless it is warranted. We sat there waiting a good 10 to 15 minutes until the waitress took our order. We watched her clear the only other table that people had eaten at and left shortly after we were arrived. We finally got our order in. We ordered cheesesteak eggrolls as an appetizer. They came out, cut in half on a tray with some type of sarrachi ketchup to dip them in. They came out fairly quickly, which was great I thought. I did not use the ketchup. I took my first bite and it was cold in the center. It seemed to be warmer towards the end so I was like well that is OK then I’ll just finish. I won’t complain. I only ate half of an egg as I got to the end. I took a bite and it was filled with hot grease, which came out, burnt my lip and my face by the corner of my mouth. I had to ask the waitress for ice to put on my face because it hurts so bad where it burned me. I still did not complain. They brought out the chicken pot. It was basically a bowl of chicken broth with chicken in it and peas and no taste with a piece of puff pastry thrown on top to make it look nice. I couldn’t cut the puff pastry with my fork I had to try with my butter knife, I had to just rip it apart because it would not cut. I took one bite of my chicken pot pie and this is not very good. There’s something different about it. I mentioned it to my boyfriend I took another bite. I thought I was just maybe being picky. I said something again to my boyfriend and he took a bite. My boyfriend was like there is something wrong with that. Are you sure it is good? I was on sure because I thought it tasted awful. I asked her to go bowl did not eat it. He told the waitress when she returned back to the table that there was something wrong with it. She gave me two containers to take it home and watch me struggle to put it into this very small container, which obviously was not going to fit into. As it slopped around then she grabbed what was left in the bowl and she said I’ll take it to the kitchen and make sure it’s OK then she took it to the kitchen. What was left in the bowl for me to throw into the go container. She brought it back and said the kitchen says there’s nothing wrong with it. Really?? You have two people here telling you that the food is disgusting and I’m telling them that I would try to feed this chicken Popeye to my dogs. The waitress did not care that I burnt my face. She did not care that the chicken pot pie was disgusting. I told her to tell the owners to take it off the menu it was that bad. I was not offered any kind of refund after burning my face. I was not offered any kind of refund on food. I did not even touch. The waitress was slow. We barely saw her. My boyfriend did get a cheesesteak. He stated that it was good. About 45 minutes to an hour later he was vomiting up the cheesesteak. This place is a total zero in my book. The waitress never offered to get the owner in touch with us or anything. The bill was $50. Plus a $10 tip which I should add as soon as I put it down on the table the waitress grabbed it super fast. Did not say thank you. She did tell us to have a good day however, as we were leaving, she is lucky she got 20%. She was not worth 20% at all. Please try somewhere else for lunch or at least stay away from...

My family and I were on a long drive back home from vacation and pulled off the exit for food and this is the first place we saw… and I must say we weren’t pleasantly surprised.

My youngest son is only 1 and has several food allergies including dairy.. as we always have to do at restaurants we were asking about items on the menu for him. I believe it was the owner who overheard and came out to talk to us and help make a decision on what to pick. She was very helpful and kind.

She recommended this “vegan” pizza which has no dairy eggs or peanuts for him so we decided to try it.

While waiting the pizza was the first item to come out.. I opened the box and it looked like a regular pizza.. I’ve seen fake cheese before and didn’t resemble anything like I thought it would look like so I went up to the front to ask.. to confirm this was in fact the vegan pizza and she said yes.

Given the fact my some will get extremely sick almost immediately if he were to eat real pizza I was skeptical, so I tried a bite… again it even tasted like delicious regular cheese pizza.. So I told my wife I don’t think we should chance it and give him any… but she let him have it anyway.. even one bite of real pizza my son would have gotten extremely sick.. but he has a bite, and then another, and another.. and eventually ate several slices.

I was amazed.. with his food limitations we have never found a substitute that was this delicious and like the original.. there is no difference in taste or texture and it was delicious. And my son loved it.

Not only that, our food came out. I got a burger with poutine fries, my wife got a salad, and my older son got mac and cheese… I can’t even describe how good ALL the food was. It may very well have been the best burger I’ve ever eaten… and I’ve eaten a lot of burgers. My wife and son loved theirs as well.

I’m so thrilled we found this place.. my youngest son actually got to enjoy pizza for the first time, and we all had an incredible lunch..

I wish we didn’t live so far away or else we would be buying food and especially that pizza on a weekly basis if not more!

Is there anyway you can freeze and ship that pizza? Lol joking but I’m serious.

Anyway thanks again.. I don’t remember the name of the owner we spoke to but we’re so grateful we did!

10 stars...

This is a very good restaurant that almost looks like its only a little sandwich shop from the outside. They have an "easy sitting" downstairs area where you can place an order at the counter and sit down, or they have an upstairs which is more of a standard sit down dining restaurant. Upstairs is charming with a rustic feel with exposed wood beams and barn like feel. The food is excellent. From the pizzas to the apps to the main dishes, everything is really made well. But be careful because you can quickly get your bill up there in price if your not careful. Haha. It is a BYOB so feel free to bring your favorite drinks too. I've enjoyed everything I have had there. The chicken Italiano sandwich is delicious. It's homemade marinated chicken that is shaved and made like a chicken cheese steak but much much better. It normally comes with a sharp provolone but I like it with mozzarella instead. My only disappointment was with the pretzel appetizer. For the price of $11 I would have expected a little more. It only came with one normal sized pretzel which I feel was not big enough for the $11 price. It was barely enough to share with 2 people let alone me my wife and our 6 and 3 year old children. However, the dips that came with the pretzel were amazing! A buffalo chicken dip that was loaded with chicken (and not at all spicy), a sweet stone ground type of mustard, a delicious french onion cheesy dip, and finally a yummy smoked Gouda dip. They were outstanding dips which explains the price of the app but unfortunately there was not enough pretzel to use them all up. We ended up using a fork to eat 3 of the 4 remaining dips after the pretzel was gone. The leftover mustard we didn't eat alone obviously. So I feel if they would include a second pretzel, this app would be amazing and my go to app, that I would order everytime. Something to thing about Mill. As for the staff, they have always been nice and pleasant and always helpful with questions about the food. Try this place out if you haven't yet. You might be surprised of what you...
