awesome place great food and my waitress was awesome! we chatted a bit and she told me a story about her mom's go to snack and my daughter told her about hers. such a wonderful experience. it was my first time eating there and I can't wait to go again.
Well, the first time I went it was very late at night. Very few customers...still stand behind the first review which was based on that evening's first visit.
However, my second visit was not a five-star rating. It was a negative 5, if it were possible to give. My daughter and her husband took me and his mother there for Mother's day last year 2018. We had the worst waitress, it was very crowded, took forever to get food, when it did arrive, it was cold, the pancakes were awful, and I asked for egg whites, normal egg whites, what I got as she described were whipped egg whites, to which when I ordered I said, please don't whip them, just crack two new eggs please and scramble the whites, what she brought me was a plate piled high with frothy steamed egg whites, which was not even well platted. I took one look and knew I would not be eating this but I did venture a taste, since sometimes things can look unappealing and taste amazing. This was not one of those occassions! Why they would do this to the incredible edible egg is beyond me, NO FLAVOR, NO SALT NO PEPPER, NO HERBS....NOTHING! JUST AIR! If I wanted to eat bland air believe me I do not have to pay for it! So I request she remove the eggs from the table as I would not be eating them and remove them from my check as I would not be paying for them. I was absolutely perplexed as to why their chef, or I should say line cook, thought whipped egg whites for an angle food cake or sponge was ahhh the next best thing to serve customers! I think late at night service wins because the cook can take their time and get the food out hot and completely cooked...btw did I forget to mention the pancakes were undercooked....to the point there was still raw batter inside...gross blech. This place needs to fire any waitress over 35 who has lost the customer service with a smile touch. Older bitter waitresses make for a poor dining experience; as does younger I don't care about anything attitudes. So bottom line...better waitresses. Hire an actual CHEF, not someone that merely believes he can cook. To quote Ratatouille: Just because anyone can cook, doesn't mean everyone should! Keep it consistent. NO MORE WHIPPED EGG WHITES! IT'S GROSS, NOT CLEVER! I was so disappointed. It was the worse Mother's day meal I have ever had! Only thing is, I wish I had taken a photo to accompany to show the difference between 1st and 2nd dining experience.
Final thoughts: I will not dine here again; Unless...I am asked to...
Read moreI have yet to review a restaurant on google, but i feel as though I have been summoned to speak on my absolute joke of a visit to the Original Pancake House. First things first, the atmosphere of the restaurant was quite disturbing in the morning. The AC was blasting on cold, and their radio had a distinct playlist limited to depressing breakup songs mixed with slow orchestra tunes. We were seated in a timely matter, but our waiter was lacking some attentiveness. We revived waters for the table, in 4 ounce glasses…and did not get any refills on them during the duration of our entire meal. Plus a small glass of grapefruit juice costed $4 , with yet again- no refills. Upon ordering, there was not much flexibility within the menu options. If you wanted something substituted, it was not available and had to be purchased as a side with most ranging from $4-8. Now the food… I ordered 4 potato pancakes, and an additional side of bacon for $3.75. When my food was being brought out to my table, I thought there was absolutely no way that could have been my order. I had received ONE slice of bacon for the grand price of $3.75. Not only could I go to any store and buy a pound for that amount, but just the premise of giving a customer one slice on a plate is ridiculous. May I also add that my ONE slice was way too crispy and crumbling at the touch. Now, the potato pancakes were not necessarily bad, but they were way too doughy and I would not chose to eat them again. In addition to the bacon disaster, my friend had ordered the pancakes with scrambled eggs and sausage. She had received what looked like a Jimmy Dean brown and serve sausage in which the texture was equivalent to a dry rock. And man oh man the eggs….The eggs tasted like rubber prison food with absolutely no flavor and were just simply inedible. However, the home fries tasted okay. Extreme dissatisfaction and disappointment is only the brink of what I am feeling after my visit today. I now know that I will avoid the Pancake house at all cost, and honestly wouldn’t even go back if someone paid me to do it. There are just so many better options around in Western New York to visit, and the Pancake House is just not a place to spend your hard...
Read moreMy wife and I have been going to the Original Pancake House for many years. It used to be our favorite Breakfast/Brunch location but that has changed as the food quality and service has gone the wrong direction. Every once and a while we will still stop there as my wife will crave a Dutch Baby which was the case this past weekend. They were moderately busy at the time we were there but nothing compared to how I have seen it in the past. We were promptly sat and after about tens minutes our server came by to get our drink order, at that point we were ready to order food as well in which we did. The Dutch Baby takes about 20mins which is fine, eventually they brought our food which included pancakes. Our server never brought us syrup and when we flagged them down we also mentioned that the side of toast we ordered never arrived. They promptly brought the syrup for the pancakes that were now cold and the toast came out a few minutes later. I struggle to use the word toast as it was just warm bread since they obviously forgot to put it into the order so they rushed it. All in all my wife's meal was fine, mine on the other hand consisted of failure after failure by the staff that resulted in cold food and a well below average dining experience. If that isn't bad enough, when it's time to pay with a credit or debit card, they bring the scanner right to the table and wait for you to complete the transaction almost forcing you to give a good tip despite the terrible service. There standard tips start at 20% on the screen, if you want to go less you have to select custom and go from there. It's intimidating, and honestly we are not talking about much more service than you receive at a fast food drive thru. Unfortunately we have decided that this was our last experience at the Original Pancake House, I would rather pay twice or even three times as much for a better overall experience. I do hope that we have been the exception and not the rule but seeing how these types of things have happened time and time...
