Venus Greek and Mediterranean — Restaurant in Town of Amherst

I do GrubHub delivery. This place has a policy that drivers are not allowed to wait inside the restaurant for food, they have to wait in the car until they press the "ready for pickup" button. I always wondered why that was, today I pretty much put the pieces together and figured it out. It's because they don't want customers hanging around giving them the stink-eye while they drag their feet and prepare the food as slowly as humanly possible. Whenever I come here, the food is never ready on time. This most recent time I arrived at the restaurant exactly at the time the app said to arrive, only to sit waiting in the parking lot for 20 minutes watching people who arrived after me get their food and leave before me. Furthermore, my customer had told me to make sure they don't forget to give them a set of utensils. So when I finally did get let into the restaurant, I told the guy at the counter that and he sort of half-heartedly gestured at a table with maybe a dozen forks and a pile of napkins on it. No spoons, no knives, no anything else. Just completely horrible service from A to Z. If you as a customer want to eat somewhere where you're cared about, this isn't the place for you.

I'm really surprised to see some of these negative ratings and reviews. I have been getting Venus since they opened way back in University Plaza like over 10 years ago. I used to go to their prior Niagara Falls location, and recently visit in Amherst. I have never been disappointed, and I go out of my way to get their food. Staff is always kind. I have had chicken shawarma, falafel, chicken souvlaki, Greek fries, garlic feta dip. Not once has anything been bland or off. Honestly, I crave the stuff. Very delicious. I'd say give it a shot if you're on the fence. I have no reason to blow smoke, and I'm honest in my reviews. Really cliché, but...

Place is under new management, been less than a week since if I am not mistaken after my conversation with the guy there.

Google said they were closed, a food delivery service said they were open on Sunday night at around 10p. Decided to call them and they were open.

Ordered a few items and they were pretty good in taste, quick service and generous portions. Decent prices too. Glad I called them as it saved me quite a bit. The food delivery service prices are 20-30% higher and delivery charges too
