Tried this spot for lunch after a doctor appointment. This is a new place established 2021. The building is brand new, super clean, comfortable and quite nice for a diner. Ample parking. We were seated quickly. Given coffee and waters but didn't have napkins or silverware. Apparently they had a rush and the silverware was getting washed. No spoon to stir coffee. Did get napkins and then silverware. Ordered Hot Turkey and Hot Meatloaf covered sandwiches with fries. The menu said fresh made daily. The turkey did taste roasted. The gravy on both seemed like canned, on the salty side. My husband's "Meatloaf" was actually two thin hamburgers with seasoning, peppers, overcooked and tough. Not normal meatloaf. Didn't have chance to let the waitress know as our mouths were full when she asked and she was busy. Coffee was ok, a little weak for me as I drink it black with no sugar and like to have bold flavor. Probably fine for most people. Personal preference I disliked the mugs, brown and thick lipped. Upon cashing out I did mentioned the Meatloaf and the coffee, not gravy as many places used canned gravy and I don't hate it 😊. Hostess apologized. Prices are on par. If I lived close by I would try it again.

Some of our food was delicious, but my partner ordered a monte cristo and there was bits of sausage, broccoli, and onion encrusted into the bread, which shows that they have no care for cross contamination and is truly a foolish mistake. I myself have worked a flat top grill at a restaurant and it is not that hard to clean in between meals and to keep customers meals separate from each other. If you have any food allergy I would not come here. It could be genuinely dangerous as they do not list allergens on the menu, and with the lack of care for cross contamination, you have no idea if you will get a surprise in your omelet. We were never told about the lunch menu, even though the people who were seated right after us were told the lunch specials. Our waitress also never came to check up on us and offer us drink refills, and only came to ask us the drinks and meals we would like, and to deliver the check. As a whole, it wasn't an unpleasant experience, it just appears that the staff are unfamiliar with their jobs, and that maybe they just need a little more experience. So hopefully in around a year it will become a worthwhile diner to visit.

Sure, here is a five-star review for Sunny's Diner: Sunny's Diner: A Gem in Rochester Sunny's Diner is a true gem in Rochester! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly service. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with classic diner decor and comfortable booths. But the real star of the show is the food! I had the pleasure of trying their pancakes, and they were absolutely divine. They were light and fluffy, cooked to perfection, and tasted like they were made with love. I could tell they used fresh, high-quality ingredients, and it made all the difference. The portion size was generous, and the toppings were fresh and delicious. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Sunny's Diner. The food was amazing, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying breakfast or lunch in Rochester.

I never went to an establishment who gets frustrated with the customer who is frustrated after receiving cold food and waiting a long time to get the food I understand that things get busy and the long wait for the food isn’t the problem the problem is as a server you shouldn’t get frustrated with the customer because you’re busy that’s part of the job. Definitely need some customer training skill classes for the servers and the managers, especially as a manager shouldn’t get frustrated with a frustrated customer their job is to deal with that customer and try to resolve the issue without getting upset with the person who paying for a service. Was excited to try this place because it was our first time but for our frustration with our service that we pay for to get basically dismissed by the manager because it’s RIT graduation and Mother’s day weekend isn’t an excuse got to do better. We’ll just take our business elsewhere. Good luck! Addendum I never said anything about 2 hour wait I said how unprofessional ya are obviously everyone can see by the way you responded to this review that I have every right to give as a paying customer. You brag that a party of 6 bill of $71 was responsible when one of the people of the party was a 2 year old who didn’t order a meal and two out of the 5 meals services were were either cold or the bread of the sandwich looked like it was soaked in water. Like I said in the first part of this comment do better we’re paying customers it’s very sad to see this place be handled by emotional individuals who don’t know how to take criticism which I have the right to give as an consumer. Be blessed and...

We waited a 20 minutes to be seated for a party of 5 for breakfast (which was fine). We waited 20 minutes for our breakfast (which was fine as we knew they were busy). We finished our breakfast in 10 minutes and we were enjoying our coffee that had just been refilled when we were asked to leave because there was a large party waiting... Because of this - WE WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN!!! This was our first experience with this place...have never, ever been treated this way in an establishment. Very, very disappointed...

  • Regarding the owner's reply to this rating - Excuse me, but it is Ms. and I have never met you, so that's a lie...we were looking so forward to coming to your establishment as a birthday breakfast for me. It was not a bus boy that came to us but another male server who specifically said "Um, we have a large party waiting to come in."The table was cleared after we left as we stopped in the ladies room first and saw it being cleared when we came out. I'm sorry if you have a dislike for another person who was in our party but my critique was about your professionalism in the customer service industry. You never ask a party to leave while they are still finishing their meal...I should have taken the tip away but it was not our waitress's fault. I will, however, tell all of my friends to stay clear of your place, even more now since receiving your response instead of an apology... **Yes, this is the first review that I felt so compelled to write...So you wouldn't consider finishing our coffee as part of our meal? Clearly you are trying to defend your actions to save...

Update July 01, 2022. We returned to Sunny's with relatives in tow. We were allowed to sit under the tent and had lovely shade and cool breezes. We arrived at about 8:30 AM. The staff was overwhelmed - they didn't appear to have as many people as they needed. However, our server was friendly and efficient. The food was not as good as our first visit. The pancakes were underdone - maybe the griddle wasn't cooperating or the Pancake Magician wasn't scheduled to work that day. The toast was cold and dry. We had a veggie omelet (large and bursting with veggies), corned beef hash and eggs (stingy portion on the hash but the eggs were nicely cooked the way I ordered them), sausage and eggs w/pancakes, and biscuits w/sausage gravy (gravy was bland and was not applied as liberally to the biscuits as would have been preferred). Our drinks were refilled frequently by the server - appreciated since we were the only group outside and could have easily been neglected. The meals were pleasant and we had lots of space to ourselves under the tent. We will still go back to Sunny's - I'm curious to try some of the lunch items. Today (June 05, 2022) was our first visit to Sunny's Diner for breakfast. We sat outside at one of the umbrella picnic tables. Our server was positive, friendly, funny and prompt. We enjoyed tremendous breakfasts (pancakes, irish eggs benedict, and a breakfast platter, a bowl of beef + orzo soup) that were prepared with care and had enormous portions. We love a good breakfast and the kitchen staff has serious skills in this department. We...
