Konak — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Got food here last night. Before coming here we thought it would be similar to Istanbul Cafe, but it's mostly not. The atmosphere and the interior are poor, crowded, old, and not very clean. It combines a Turkish food store and a cafe/restaurant in that there are store shelves with food you can buy, and there are about four tables that you can eat at after you order. In this way it's similar to Istanbul Cafe. Here I haven't seen any wait staff, so I'm guessing that it's all self-service, which is different from Istanbul Cafe where there are very pleasant waitresses. But back to Konak: one of the fridges had cartons of juice in it. I picked one up to check the expiration date and found mold on the bottom of it. The prices of the store food are also about 30% higher. But here's what's good about it: the restaurant food prices are somewhat less expensive and the food is good. We ended up getting take out of Lamb Shish, a Chicken Shish, and a Lentil soup, and were rather pleased with it.

One of the best Turkish spots in Long Island. Food has always been good never had a bad experience. My favorite is the mixed grill and the meal 100% fills you up. Other favorites of mine are the lentil soup, lamachun, and their chicken, the lamb and the beef. My go to is always the mixed grill with the couscous rice and the sauce it’s a good combination. The competition is fierce between angora, Konak, and Istanbul cafe. They all definitely use the same recipes. Their chicken, lamb and beef is always fresh and full of flavor and it’s not too chewy. But however they need to hire more staff because the service is very slow and they always take 45 minutes to an hour to make the food. Overall this place never disappoints and it’ll 100% fill you up. I suggest that you come hear and give them a try. Even though the food is very pricey it’s still worth it. Best part is that this restaurant is really close to my house. I could be coming here a lot but I don’t because of how expensive the food is. I recommend this place to my friends. And I give this...

Br Talib I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share feedback on our dining experience at your restaurant on August 5 at 9 pm.

Despite Google listing your closing time as 10 pm, we were informed upon arrival that the oven was turned off and only BBQ was available, which was disappointing. Additionally, while deciding on our order, the chef began grilling the meat, but we were told that neither the rice we wanted nor fresh bread was available.

As a strong supporter of Muslim-owned businesses, we were particularly disheartened to overhear a comment from the chef suggesting that our Pakistani ethnicity somehow justified this level of service. Regardless of our background, we believe all customers deserve respect and proper service.

We live near Fatima Zara Masjid in Ronkonkoma and have always appreciated the excellent service Konak has provided to the masjid. This experience, however, was quite disappointing and fell short of our expectations.

We hope you will take this feedback seriously and ensure better service for all your patrons in the future.
