Nearly 25% more expensive than their largest competitor, Shop Rite. The Stop and Shop corporate strategy seems to be, "open more stores, fast and furiously."

If you're trying to save a buck, it's worth driving a couple extra miles somewhere else. That being said, there are occasionally some good deals in their circular, along with the normal sales on things like Soda, English Muffins, and Frozen Foods. Also the store is roomy and bright, the staff has always been helpful. Finally...

The recycling room is disgusting and poorly handled before the corona pandemic, and even more so during all the madness. Firstly, the machines take forever to be serviced. I was told by the Chris, the assistant store manager as of 4/12/21 that Envipco is to be blamed as all they call do is call the the owner of the machines to have them serviced.

Secondly, the rules, which are clearly posted on the exterior of the recycling center, state that the max. capacity of the room is to be no more than 2 people - standing 6 feet apart. Ok, the machines are as follows Glass - Plastic - Cans - Glass - Plastic - Cans. That's 2 pairs of 3 kinds for a total of 6.

Over the last several months, with 1/2 the machines being broken, you literally need to stand shoulder to shoulder with someone to use, say, the "can" machine, because some stranger needs to use the "plastic" machine. Unacceptable. You can't stay away from people and keep the "2"person maximum in the room. They force everyone who enters to break their own rules.

Most people I see there, including obvious senior citizens, seem terrible confused and not sure how to proceed. Some people just walk in without reading the rules or just not caring.

If you've read this far, you might be asking, "Who cares?" Well, this lack of efficiency just outside the store floor, in an extension of the store proper, shows lack of management, foresight, and responsibly for their local consumers. If they can't handle something so simple, what else can't they handle?

EDIT to owner's reply: Did you even read what I wrote, or does Stop and Shop utilize a bot to respond to certain keywords contained within the review? I mention nothing about social distancing, one-way isles, or anything within the store proper. I just lowered my star rating due to poor social messaging.

If there was a 0 star option i would give it. I just had the most god awful experience in this store. I made a deli order at 450pm to be picked up at 530 to 600 pm. I got there a little early to go shopping as well at about 545pm i was done shopping so i sat and waited by the deli counter to wait for my order. At about 558pm my app said it was ready. I went to check and it wasn't there. So i asked this very rude and angry deli guy goes by the name Fred and he was rude right off the bat saying they were short handed and then told me i was over the line. He wouldn't let me get a word in and then said to me as i was walking away "dont test me bro" so i go get the manager and i told him what happened then another customer overheard me and happen to be right there and said he was rude and unprofessional. I told him i didn't want anything Fred cut and i wanted the whole order redone by someone else. I watched the new guy cut one package of meat and gave me 4 packages. I told him i wanted everything redone and he said yes i just did this all. No way he just did all that in 2 minutes. I then qent back to get the manager again and i told him i don't want to come back here ever again and he offered me a 20 dollar gift card. I just wanted my product the way i asked for it. Chris the “assistant manager” was unable to help as he had better things to do! I wanted some freshly cut fruit, but there was none I asked if he could cut some for me. He’s done it before, but I suppose he had more important things to do now like climb the corporate ladder. Guess this is why everyone at that location calls him clipboard Chris. Then the short man Frank the store manager was also unable to help me I asked him if he knew as to where I could find a specific item, but he pretty much disregarded me and went on about his business. An elderly couple told me afterwards that’s not the first time that he’s done that. I like to think that he was once a good man, but somewhere down the path he lost his way. Gonna take my business elsewhere considering the fact there shelves are mostly empty majority of the time and that employees...
