Bella Cucina Mahopac — Restaurant in Town of Carmel

I have to give a huge shout out to Bella Cucina Italian Specialty Food Boutique - Mahopac, NY. I know I have shared in the past when she saved the day last minute when she came through with her delicious sausage and peppers the day of my daughter’s graduation party, but today I learned first hand what a beautiful person she truly is. I had promised her that I would visit her store and although it took me some time to finally have a minute to myself to get there, I can promise you I will be back many more times in the future. I only wish she was closer!

When I went to the shop today, I had the intention of buying a pasta dish that she had shared on Facebook this afternoon. Unfortunately, it had sold out by the time I got there. She was so apologetic and insisted on making me fresh pasta, giving me choice from her selection she had on hand from Mulberry Street prepared with her homemade pink sauce. While I waited for her to prepare the sauce and pasta, she was kind enough to offer me coffee and cookies and the most delicious fresh mozzarella. We had a lovely conversation and I learned a lot about this remarkable woman.

I’d also like to mention that while I was there, I overheard her having a conversation about giving food for a fundraiser for a local family. This is not the first time I have heard of her, offering her services to others. So please, let’s come together and support a local business and a very kind and caring human being (and AMAZING cook). Who knew stopping in, I would leave feeling like I was a guest invited for an Italian family meal.

I promised to return and she offered to prepare meals for me that she would set aside. She even offered to deliver if I couldn’t get her. Pretty amazing.

I grew up in an Italian-American household, so believe me when I say that I’ve experienced the excellence of Italian-American cooking before, but the past 2 times I’ve experienced a wedge from Bella Cucina, it has honestly been one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting in my life. The chicken cutlets were so delicious, not dry in the least bit, thinking of the fresh mozzarella taste has my mouth watering as we speak, and the fresh wedge bread put it all over the top. Walked in today for the first time and definitely will be going back! I felt so welcomed immediately as I walked in. I felt like I was at my family’s house for lunch. The eggplant mozzarella and roasted red peppers sandwich I got was delicious the eggplant was crispy and so so so good! I had to also leave with a box of goodies and when I tell you SOOOOOOOOO GOOOD I mean it! I will definitely be a regular here! So happy...
