I feel bad leaving poor reviews but sometimes it has to be done… my third time ordering from Camellia. First time was fine. Second time my partner was unhappy with the pad Thai - he said it was very plain. I had the Vietnamese pho which was good but the rare beef was really big and hard to eat. We both had some GI symptoms the next day but pinned it on some anxiety from a personal issue we were having at the time. Just picked up our third order and we aren’t happy.. not only was the portion size small, but the taste of my partner’s red curry was so off, it was like spicy watered down coconut milk. The chicken was dry, rubbery and sparse. Barely any rice. The mushrooms were so rough looking, I don’t think they should have been used at all and the red peppers were undercooked. I feel bad for making him order from here again, twice in a row now it was a bad experience.
The taste of my chicken pho was good but my stomach did not enjoy it. My chicken was also strange. I’ve never had this problem with pho from any other restaurant. Sadly I don’t think we’ll be ordering again, despite all the great reviews it just doesn’t do it for us.
Lastly I’ll mention that when I ordered over the phone today I didn’t realize the man read back the price to me. My partner thought he heard it and mentioned that it sounded high. Turns out he was right and when I got there they had added on an extra curry, but they took it off so we didn’t have to pay. The woman who cashed us out was very sweet, but unfortunately the food just hasn’t been it. Also the prices are a little higher than in the menu photo on Google so beware of...
Read moreI went to this restaurant a few times last year and have recently ordered takeout.
Dining in: the place was clean and not overcrowded with tables. The staff was friendly and patient with our endless questions and great at suggesting and helping us pick our entrees. The wait for the food was a bit longer than we would have liked, but the food was worth the wait. They served genours portions. If you enjoy spicy food, make sure to ask for Thai spicy pr ask for chili oil on the side because my extra hot was barely a 1.5 (on a scale of 1-5) Food ordered: pad see ew, pad thai, Basil fried rice and a few rolls.
Takout: I ordered less than 30 minutes before closing. I was quite surprised they took my order, as many places close their kitchen 30 minutes before closing. The portions were once again quite generous. The food was not quite as delicious as when I ate in the restaurant, though. I plan on ordering out again and comparing it. Classic fried rice with chicken and tom yum soup,...
Read moreI went with friends and share many different plates. The food is delicious, it's prepared fresh and came out quick. However, the atmosphere was really... off. I don't know if we went in during a slow period or a dull night, but no one else was there. We walked in for a table for 4 and they seated us immediately, but for the following 2 hours we were there, we were the only people there until the last 20 minutes. Some people picking up to go orders came by but that was it. This wouldn't have been that bad if the restaurant had music playing, but it stayed at a deafening quietness without any background music. Also, despite us being the only people in the restaurant, I did have to ask a couple of times for water.
Don't get me wrong, we might have just hit it up a night when everyone decided to stay inside. The building and interior is very nice and clean, and the food is delicious. Our Experience with the atmosphere is why we are giving it a 3/5. So if you're going for...
