Pautlers Drive In Of Clarence — Restaurant in Town of Clarence

First time here and I will not be in a rush to come back. There were things I liked about it but for the $$$$ not worth it to me. We had a large order , 3 kids meal, one chicken taco salad, two Galvin burgers, one steak fry, two curley fries, 5 large drinks and 1 med, 2 sides of Texas sauce and 5 sides of cheese. They heard the order wrong for 2 of the kids meal and gave us grilled cheeses instead of chicken fingers. The person taking my complaint said that's what it said on the receipt, then proceeded to tell the cooks that we needed chicken fingers instead of the grilled cheeses that were ordered. The lady was semi rude about it . The Texas sauce had no flavor at all. The consistency of it was good and it was on the savory side. The Galvin burgers were a nice big burger with bbq and cheddar cheese slice and onion rings, my only complaint about the burger is that there wasn't enough bbq on it. There was also a beef on weck on the tray that I don't think we ordered. I didn't get a receipt so I'm not sure if we paid for it or not. After dinner we got ice cream. The ice cream was $$$ and tiny. 2 milk shakes, 1 banana split, small twist w sprinkles, 1 small vanilla w sprinkles, 1 jr vanilla w sprinkles, 1 tutu fruiti, and caramel cloud Sunday. I think I was the only one that was very unsatisfied. I had the banana split. The chocolate sauce and the strawberry were the fakest, cheapest and most generic I have ever tasted. I didn't even really taste the pineapple to give more of an opinion on it. The amount of ice cream given were 3 tiny lumps hidden by whipped cream, so I didn't really notice if the ice cream had good flavor or not. The banana was fresh and ripe. The tuto fruiti also had that same generic fake strawberry sauce. It is nice that they have a semi large playground for the kids. However, Over all I would not come to this...

I rarely complain about ANY ice cream and I've been going to Pautlers as long as I can remember (I live less than 1 mile away). However, for the last few years, Pautlers custard has suffered from a liquid consistency that seems to be tied to lack of temperature control. It is almost impossible to get through a cone on hot days.

This on its own would be an issue but when you are nearby some of the best custard anywhere at Uncle G's, it really showcases the issue. We avoid Pautlers for soft serve on most occasions. It is simply not a good value vs the local competition.

Presentation vs others is lacking as well when it comes to sundaes and other specialty desserts. I hope ownership will take a look at this as it could be something simple (or more complex like a supplier issue). I just gave them another try tonite with a Twist & Swirl and it was a liquidy mess before I was half way done.

Very cool 50s style drive-in. My wife and I were there about 2:30 pm on a Friday afternoon. There were about 5 people in front of us. Single line to order food, then wait for your order and name to be called. Maybe 5 minutes or so for each phase. I ordered the "Kevin" which, if my recollection is correct, is a grilled chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. It was great. My wife ordered a grilled chicken breast with cheese. She enjoyed it also. They were grilled over real charcoal! I noticed that the chicken breast my wife received was about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick, whereas mine was less than half that thickness. Maybe it's different because of the bacon? I don't know. We shared curly fries. We both really liked them. This is our first time there.
