We are sooooo in love with Grub. Disclaimer: I lived in 8 Asian countries over the span of my life, enjoyed its cuisines and fell in love with how amazing its flavors are; each unique in its own way, yet all share the fragrant and deeply flavorful taste its ingredients have. In short, I am biased and extremely picky when it comes to Asian cuisine; so when I heard Grup was Asian fusion I was a bit skeptical... and I am glad I was wrong about my skepticism... I am a true believer that you can actually do "Asian fusion" 1000s of miles away from Asia and do it amazingly right. The secret is an amazing chef from the souther part of Thailand (the border between Thailand and Malaysia), and the rest is magic.
Where do I begin? The place is cozy, neat, simply appointed; yet feels just right. The hostess was super warm and welcoming. We started reading through the menu and everything sounded so yummy; and it truly lived up to the photos and description. We started with the Korean BBQ buns appetizer and it was an absolute hit. The meat was exceptionally flavorful, tender, well marinated and has the perfect balance of spices. You could taste every spice and ingredient in a perfect balance. I ordered the Thai iced tea and I am so glad I did. Not too sweet, fully bodied taste, and the right color (not that artificial bright orange you get sometimes at generic Asian restaurants). My wife ordered the Roti Canai and I ordered the Chicken with Garlic rice and red curry sauce. We both were glad we agreed to share dishes. The roti canai arrived first, and OMG... the curry was Devine, full of flavor and amazing consistency, we launched into a measured dance of taking small bites of the roti and dipping it in the curry and then following it with a chunk of chicken.... taking turns, faces full of smiles. We were enjoying every bite of it and thought the meal can't get any better... we were wrong!! The chicken with coconut garlic rice and red curry sauce arrived just in time. We took one look at it and knew it, we are about to be treated to a bouquet of taste and texture. WOW, this dish can only be described as WOW; delicious, flavorful, bold, rich, spicy, intensely fragrant, and an absolute delight. We ended this amazing meal with desert (despite how full we felt); behold the sticky rice with sliced mangoes. It could not be a better way to end the meal; just right in every way.
We will be back very very soon. Thank you Grub, and so long until...

The bill came out to $22 for soup and a powdered Thai tea... talk about r@p⬠the community..
Both of the "real" females answering the phone and taking orders in person were super rude and probably lose this restaurant $, She rudely put me on hold n took a while to get back to me just to ask her a yes or no question š¤£š¤£... Stereotype blonde for sure. She had no knowledge of what was in the food and heard her ask the other guy to talk to me cause it was too much for her to just ask and repeat a simple yes or no answer....really? š¤£
NEXT ISSUE... I was trying to watch them make MY FOOD THAT I PAYED FOR from their open window FROM A SEAT that looks in the kitchen open window, and the other "real" female asked if they could help me and why I was taking pictures? I said i was just zooming in to watch em cook the food from my seat. If they are that rude in person and over the phone, what is going into my food that is "secret"? So after they confronted me very rudely, I took a quick pic of the authentic Pattaya style "ladyboy" "chef" cooking the food that definitely put something extra in it... they closed a curtain on the open window and wouldn't let people watch em cook the food... SUPER SUSPECT and something's fishy with Grub. Dont eat there... i ended up just giving it to a homeless guy on the corner by the local inn and will just fight the cc charge. I lived in Thailand and even i can make...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is the definition of identity crisis. Not sure what the āfusionā is referring to since the menu is all over the place, ranging from poutine to pad thai. Not asian fusion poutine either, just straight up fries, cheese, and gravy. The food wasnāt good. I got the pad thai with chicken at a spice level medium. First off, this wouldāve been mild to a newborn baby. I didnāt taste any spice whatsoever and it tasted way too sweet. There was a lack of acidity as well, without any lime served alongside the dish to freshen it up . The vegetables were still really crunchy and I was not expecting a giant fried egg on top. Iām a pad thai lover, and this is scraping the bottom of my list. I think Iāve had instant pad thai better than this. It was just so bland and mushy. I didnāt even bother asking for a to-go box, and I hate food waste. Service was meh (got put on hold for 5 minutes instantly after calling to try and make a reservation, and no one came by to re-fill our waters or anything). Atmosphere is a little weird, part hipster, part wine mom, and part ⦠iām not sure⦠warehouse? Why can I get a hamburger and fries along side my panang curry? Maybe the āfusionā referred to is the fusion between people who like subpar Thai food and people who like Chicken Parm Sliders. My friend got the fish tacos and fries, he said heās had better fish tacos. The fish was all cut up to the point where it looked like onions. My other friend got the vegetarian dumplings, again, she said sheās had better. I would skip this place, or at least bring your own hot sauce...
