Nishiki Sushi — Restaurant in Town of East Greenbush

Nishiki is our favorite local sushi spot! Ingredients are fresh and good quality. The menu has a lot of variety. Appetizers and kitchen items are all well made, but the star of the show is really the sushi menu.

The rolls are balanced - you don't get overloaded with rice or vegetables. Presentation is exquisite, whether you're getting a couple of rolls or a full boat of sushi. Prices are on point for good quality fish. If you can make it in during their lunch hours, the lunch specials are a very good deal. The desserts are all yummy, and easy to split with a dining companion.

The staff are polite and very good at keeping an eye on you. They don't hover, but you don't feel ignored either. Our waitress recognizes us on sight and knows our drink...

I usually prefer when the lighting is more dim, but the decorations made up for it. The tonkotsu ramen was okay, wasn’t all that fantastic compared to other restaurants. Nebeyaki Udon (I think that’s what is called) was really disappointing. The broth by itself was okay but with the udon and vegetables, it really tasted like nothing. The best comparison I could make is to water. The chicken tasted boiled, vegetables boiled, everything boiled. Felt weird eating a half cooked egg on the udon knowing it wasn’t ramen but I understand it’s normal to put runny eggs on soups in Japanese cuisine. Tempura was good and so was sushi. Nishiki Sushi offers a friendly and inviting atmosphere that makes dining there a pleasant experience from start to finish. The prices are very fair for the quality and generous portions of food you receive. The flavors were well-balanced and satisfying — I especially enjoyed the Bento Box lunch special and the variety of sushi rolls, both of which were flavorful and well-prepared.
