So my husband & I remember this place was Sammy’s from our previous Montauk trips. Never ate there @ those times. We have eaten @ Inlet, Gosmans, Muse, Salivars, Navy Beach, Duryea’s & Tauk. All great restaurants. I noticed that Caps just recently opened in place of Sammy’s & was receiving 5 star reviews for their menu. I was leery that a brand new restaurant was getting such great reviews. Let me tell this restaurant deserves that & more. For our dinner we had the baked oysters which had this whipped cheese foam soo delicious. My husband had the BBQ ribs with sweet potato fries - tender fall off the bone. I couldn’t stop eating the fries! I had the coquille scallop dish - excellent. The next day we caught fish on the fishing boat so we went back & had lunch @ Caps since they will cook what you catch. We chose Francese style which was cooked beautifully. My husband said it was one of the best he ever had. We also had the cooked potato chips with onion dip - definitely a must have . Shout out to Ginger our waitress. And to the live music we had Tuesday night - excellent singer and rest of the group. Sorry didn’t catch their name. We felt that CAPs was better or just as good of any of the Montauk establishments. We’ll be back next time...
Read moreThis place serves the best fish and chips in New York — and possibly in the entire U.S.! The portions are generous, and the fish is incredibly fresh. The meat has a natural ocean-sweet flavor with no unpleasant fishy taste. It’s slightly sweet with a delicate, perfectly flaky texture. The batter is outstanding — thin, crispy, and golden, with a crunchy exterior and a soft, juicy interior.
The shellfish pasta is also excellent, loaded with shrimp, scallops, clams, and mussels. The clam chowder and baked oysters were delicious as well.
The service was warm and attentive, and the staff were wonderfully dog-friendly. Definitely a must-visit spot — and they stay open even when many other places close...

After checking in, we wanted to take a walk to check out the Harbour area. On our way back, we stopped at Caps for cocktails and an appetizer. First off, the service was excellent the cocktails and the wings were great. We enjoyed it so much. We went back the next day and did it again. Especially appreciated the wonderful service from...
