Levain Bakery — Restaurant in Town of East Hampton

I was so excited to finally try the famous Levain after years of hearing about it. Unfortunately the experience was a huge letdown. I ordered 3 different cookies, 2 of the flavored brioche and a pizza.

Starting off with the worst, the pizza was completely inedible. It was so crisp and dried out it must have been cooked 5 days prior. The entire thing - not just the crust - had the texture of a potato chip and just crumbled as you tried to bite into it.

The brioche was mediocre. It was quite dry, not a the fluffy, flavorful brioche I was expecting. It also seemed as though maybe these had been baked the day prior.

Now to what they are famous for... the cookies... they were just ok. So many competitors have replicated the Levain cookies now but frankly... the competition does it better. If you like a very semisweet forward cookie then maybe you will like it. However all 3 flavors I tried lacked balance,...

Placed an order on their website for pick up at Wainscott location. I called to let them know so would be late. They never received the order because they don’t have access so I was told I could come pick up an order but I’d have to pay again. What? How does this make sense? Then I was told to contact the number in my confirmation email to get my money back. The phone number in the email is for the Wainscott location! They did absolutely nothing for me. Their mistake yet wouldn’t rectify it nor would they fill my order even with a receipt that clearly says it’s from their location. I had to take care of it. This place has the worst customer service. I won’t waste my time. I’ll get tastier cookies elsewhere from someone who cares about...

I honestly believe their dark chocolate cookies (they are not really cookies, but that's the closest word to describe these chocolate bombs of amazingness) are medicinal! Put them in the microwave to warm them and everyone you serve them to will fall in love with you. They make an amazing hostess gift. I brought them to a dinner party once and everyone got into them before the meal was even served! Every flavor is incredible. I've honestly never tasted anything more delicious in my entire life.
