This used to be my favorite local deli in the area. Ive been going here for over 15 years. It had great food at great prices. It’s a classic local Hispanic deli perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. Unlike most delis around the staff was open and welcoming to everyone, locals, city folk, tourists, whoever! If your like me, and can’t speak the best spanish or don’t know any at all, it won’t be a problem. The staff would always welcome you with a smile. Until...recently... I went in a few weeks ago some time in January. Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge goldbergs fan, but sometimes to save a little bit and to support another local business I stoped in here. It was the same vibe it’s always been. The menu didn’t look like it’s changed at all. I ordered a 2 egg and cheese, salt pepper ketchup on a roll (a pretty basic Bonac order if you ask me). Normally it’s about $3-3.75 while at Goldberg’s and other Delis around I’ve paid about $3-4.50 for the same order. A women makes or order in about 5-7 mins and I go to pay. I look down and at first I think it reads $6.50 then I’m like there’s no way... it’s probably $4.50. I hand the cashier the sandwhich, she says hello good morning and put it in a bag with napkins. To my surprise it comes out to $7 and some change!!! So, I pull out some cash and just say “wow it’s kinda expensive.” (Thinking she might have mistaken the $6 for a $4 like I did) and she takes the money... quickly looks at the women cooking other customers food and then quickly says... “yeah well they raised the price of everything... the eggs.. the cheese everything... “ I say “oh wow okay. Well thanks have a good one” I take my change and leave. I get to my office and the whole way I’m thinking man Their supplier must have really raised the prices of the food to raise a 2 egg and cheese breakfast sandwich from about $3 to $6.50?!? I open the sandwich and find that it’s so scrawny and small. It’s deffintaly not the quality I’ve known and loved from the Wainscott Deli. And the fact that I Paid $6.50+ tax for this... man I was so mad and...
