Arios Coffeehaus is exactly what Port Ewen has been missing! I spent a few hours there today to read and try the coffee. I had a decaf Cappuccino and then a decaf Americano. Both were excellent. While there are only a few tables inside, you are also sitting in an antique shop which is lovely! The seating area has ample windows, so there is good natural lighting. The coffeehaus has a perfect atmosphere for getting work done and making new friends. It would be a great space for an evening book club or game night at some point!
I expect that once the patio is open, people in town will also be flocking to hang out there.
There is plenty of parking in back of the shop. I did not use my computer while there so I don’t know if there is wi-fi or not, but there are outlets for plugging in. I am looking forward to my next visit there so I can try some of the food!
Finally, if you live in Port Ewen, you can easily walk to the coffeehaus - well that is when the temperature warms up some! So glad to finally have a coffee shop in...
Read moreI was looking for something like this since I first moved to the Port Ewen area in 2000 after spending 15 years elsewhere locally. Arios came to town and changed it to exactly what I needed a great little spot with a great atmosphere and really good coffee on a daily basis serving the community in Port Ewen that’s one side of it. The other side of it is they have the most incredible antique store attached to it in the back you can walk around. It’s like a treasure chest as you go room to room finding all these incredible well curated products at a very, very fair prices. Their birthday card and all types of occasion cards are really awesome. If you need a card go get one there and grab a coffee and maybe a gold ring or a mirror or a table or some lightly used curtains you name it it’s all there and, like I said very fair prices...
Read moreThey refuse cash. Yes refuse. I had exact change but they only accept debit/credit as payment.
This area has a demographic of working class, wealthy weekenders and low income residents. Not every person has a debit/credit card available to them and this place doesn’t want those types anywhere near their establishment. Classism in this part of Ulster county is a weird flex.
Also no drip coffee, only Americanos. - that’s strike two. The “antiques” in the other part of the establishment are overpriced and tacky. - that’s strike three.
Basically this is some privileged person’s hobby business. Best bet is...
