China Wok — Restaurant in Town of Gates

I feel bad for poorly reviewing this establishment, as I try to be benevolent to local business owners. I realize everyone is trying their best, and indeed, the young lady who handled my order was very pleasant.

This is my 2nd review of China Wok, they are just SO GOOD and consistent that I thought they deserved it! I hadn’t visited them since late last summer, and was wondering if it was still THE place to go for Chinese, or if that had changed…Well I’m happy to say that it hasn’t changed, the same people own and run the place, and the food is still GREAT! I usually get the chicken egg foo yung dinner (see photos) and I actually get 2 meals from 1 order because you get SO MUCH FOOD! As you can see by the photos, it looks like quite a large plate, certainly VERY filling, but what you don’t know is that THIS IS ONLY 1/2 OF THE FOOD THAT YOU GET! And VERY REASONABLE when it comes to price…As a matter of fact l, there are over 10 dinner combinations that you can order, and they are all just over $10…Where else can you get so much and pay so little?? And the family that owns and runs it are GENUINELY SO NICE AND APPRECIATIVE, they literally light up when they see you!! I don’t go anywhere else!...

If I could give a rating in the negatives I would. My MIL spent $42 for there to be no driver on a Friday so we had to pick it up. And for my beef in my beef and broccoli to taste like it was soaked in fish juice and cooked in it too. That is the peices of beef I actually got, which was not many. It was mostly broccoli. They also sent my MIL sweet and sour chicken with no sauce, so she was forced to eat it dry, and when she called to complain, the woman on the phone couldn't have cared less and didn't even apologize. And finally, the portion size was a damm joke. We paid full combo prices for what seemed to be half the amount you're supposed to get. We will never be patronizing this establishment again and I sincerely hope people read this before they order from them and have to have a bad...
