Jonny's Smokes — Restaurant in Town of Goshen

Honestly I must agree with some of the reviews on here. My family and I have been wanting to try this place out for the longest but the empty parking lot should have been an indication to keep on driving! We ordered appetizers which were the pulled pork quesadillas and boneless wings. The quesadillas were awful and had to be drenched in sour cream just to get through the flavor. The boneless wings were not boneless wings their were tenders that look like they came from a bag! Definitely not house made! The same for the fries… which is why that tasted good. For the main course we wanted brisket but they were still in the alleged smoker. So we went with the ribs and pulled pork. We also had the cornbread and the Mac and cheese. The pulled pork was awful it had no flavor what so ever and had a weird smell. The mac was an insult to any southerner! A box of Mac tasted better then what was on my plate! The ribs were so dry and hard you needed the Jaws of life to pull them apart! The cornbread was boxed made so that was ok! The only highlight was the wait staff they were so respectful and friendly. My advice to the owner please find someone that can cook and not just...

First time at this place since it’s been open . Was excited at first , but was reminded that the few times we drove by on a weekend night the parking lot was empty , should have been a hint . Anyway gave it a shot , yes help local businesses. Wait staff was nice but the waitress was very young and did not seem experienced . First thing she says is “ we are sold out of pulled pork” it was 6:15 pm . Good thing we weren’t pulled pork fans. We ordered the brisket meal , short ribs and a Mac and cheese . The brisket was so dry , seemed like it was sitting around for awhile . The corn bread sides all came wrapped in plastic wrap , dead give away that they were not fresh and refrigerated. The short ribs basically smelled awful , 2 bites and couldn’t finish . The Mac and cheese was nothing special . 3 people ate dinner - 2 left hungry , 1 left sick to their stomach. We went here for the first time last night, and we were blown away!

I used to work in a smokehouse growing up so I’m always a bit weary of trying BBQ houses. This one didn’t disappoint, where others in the area have. I can’t speak for all the BBQ options since we didn’t try them all but the brisket is some of the best I’ve had in the northeast. I also tried some of the half chicken and it was great as well.

The crew is really kind and helpful, my family has a lot of dietary restrictions and the servers worked extra hard to accommodate them. It also showed us that they use quality ingredients and make things from scratch in the process, since we had to go through ingredients in their items to be sure they were safe for my family. I appreciate that almost everything here is made from scratch and without shortcuts other places seem to use.
