Let me start by saying—I’m 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘸𝘩𝘰’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.

Now, let me tell you why. It’s a long one. So grab a drink and some snacks.

The Coffee – It’s always fresh and consistent. Starbies? You could 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳

The Beer – At night, this place metamorphosizes into a bar. The selection is great. The tap list is a very well-curated mix of craft beers, always delivering something fresh and unique. I don’t know much about beer, but I do know about getting tipsy. Would 100% recommend. If you’re nice(-ish) enough, they might even let you write on one of the boards for the tap beers. In addition to the 12 beers on tap, they have a fully stocked fridge with all kinds of beers—whether you want to enjoy one there or take a few to go. No matter what you like, there’s something for everyone.

The People- JB and Chris, the owners, are absolutely wonderful. You can always pick their brains about all things beer, coffee, food, and most things life. Bartenders and baristas Kaitlyn, Justin, Angel, and Tabitha are as lovely. They’re friendly, fun, and make this place feel so warm and welcoming.

Dogs – This is a pet-friendly place. There’s always at least a dog wagging their tail, wanting to be petted. If you need some oxytocin but are too lazy to go for a run or too irresponsible to get a pet for yourself (like me), this is another reason to visit this place.

The Vibe – Whether you’re human, alien, vampire, or a zombie, you’re welcome here. No judgment—unless you’re an a-hole. Then kindly stay outside.

The Most Useless Trivia by Polish John – Every Thursday at 8, Polish John hosts the most hilarious trivia night ever. Aptly titled The Most Useless Trivia, it’s packed with random facts that will help you absolutely nowhere in life, but boy, is it fun. If you’re in the area and love not-so-serious trivia, you have to give it a shot. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

Local Art – They feature a rotating exhibit of local artists, which is always a great addition to the space. It’s a wonderful way to support the artists.

Bring Your Own Food – While the place doesn’t have a kitchen, you’re totally welcome to bring in your own food or grab something from any of the nearby spots. This is their modest way of not just making the place more welcoming but also supporting other businesses in the area. There’s no way in hell you could resist going and buying something for yourself once a patron opens their box of tacos from Los Ferchos.

The Community – If you live in the neighborhood, this is a place you must visit. It pulls you in like a black hole, helping you find your tribe—no matter how lost you feel in the abyss of life. (Sorry for the metaphor, I’m a little tipsy thanks to Hardywood’s Christmas Morning beer here at Climbing Wolf. It’s amazing!). I moved to the neighborhood nearly six months ago and started coming here to work while I took my time setting up my place. This spot became my little bubble of stability while everything else in my life was changing. Sorry for the sap. If you’re on the lookout for your people, chances are you’ll find them here.

Having said that, my bank account isn’t exactly happy or proud of my spendings here at Climbing Wolf, but my heart is definitely very warm and fuzzy.

So, if you want great coffee, incredible beer, and a place to just be, Climbing Wolf is where you need to go.

P.S. This is not a...

Climbing Wolf is truly one of those “third places” everyone seems to be craving today. The atmosphere owners JB and Chris have curated is truly unique to any other establishment in the rivertowns. Whether you're picking up a morning coffee, dropping by to get some work done in the afternoon, or drinking late into the night, you will always find a welcoming crowd of friendly faces waiting for you here. Many times I've wandered into Climbing Wolf early in the night thinking I would stop in for just a drink or two, only to stay for hours and make several new friends. Every Thursday Climbing Wolf hosts The Most Useless Trivia, which is a smash hit every time (be sure to arrive early if you want to get a table). Its some of the funniest, and of course useless, trivia you’ll ever attend and makes for a wonderful early thursday night activity.

On top of the wonderful atmosphere, the quality of everything they serve is amazing. From the mornings to early afternoons Climbing Wolf serves amazing coffee and an array of pastries. They curate a rotating selection of different beans from around the world. The baristas are skilled, knowledgeable, and capable of answering any questions you might have, whether you're really into coffee, or just looking to try something new. And lots of the coffee they serve is also available in take home sized bags, so if you love the cup you just bought, you can buy some and have it every morning for the next few weeks!

By late afternoon Climbing Wolf transforms into an incredible craft beer bar with an amazing selection of different beers, ciders, and wines. The 12 beers on tap are regularly rotated so you can expect to discover something new and amazing every time you come in. Much like their baristas, the bartenders are always incredibly knowledgeable and ready to make recommendations (Chris has never failed me!). In addition to the 12 on tap, Climbing Wolf has multiple fridges stocked with canned & bottled beers that you can buy & drink there, or take home with you. Whether you like sours, lagers, ales, stouts, ciders, or IPAs there will always be something for you here.

All and all, Climbing Wolf is a bar/cafe unlike any other you’ll visit. While it’s certainly not the cheapest place to drink in the rivertowns, I can confidently say it's worth every penny I've spent there. I cannot recommend Climbing...

Maybe a great place for beer, but sad to say this was the worst coffee I’ve ever had. The first cappuccino tasted sour…I thought the milk was bad, and the second cup of a different brew wasn’t much better. When I asked the guy who made it to check the milk, he said it looked fine and then actually took my cup and drank out of it, and said it was great! That was strange in itself, but I was surprised that he’d think it was great! I really thought I had gotten sour milk! I’ve driven by Climbing Wolf many times and always wanted to check it out, so I was excited to try it and when I saw the place was packed I thought I’d be wow’d!!! What a huge disappointment. The shop itself is really big inside but setup in such a way so there is always someone underfoot…not a relaxed place where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. I travel the world and have had some of the best brews anywhere, and Climbing Wolf was truly disappointing. If you’re looking for a great cup of coffee, I think they’re alot of better options locally, including the...

If one picture can describe Climbing Wolf Coffee and Beer it would be this one of a nitro brew latte, salted caramel cupcake, and mornin latte stout. The coffee is phenomenal. You can tell a lot of pride is taken in making a perfect cup of coffee by the high quality coffee and espresso machines. The beer selection both on tap and in cans are quite varied, pleasing a multitude of tastes from lagers to ciders to stouts. If you are looking for coffee to fuel you up in the morning and beer to wind down at the end of the day this is the first place you should check out. The atmosphere in this place is typically laid back and you can find all types of locals in here. You won't be disappointed when you walk through the door!

A couple of years ago I relocated from Chicago and have been looking for a place like Climbing Wolf. It not only has a great selection of beers from all over the country and coffee drinks, it’s also a welcoming and cozy space. Coming from the midwest, I've missed an atmosphere where I can meet interesting people, like owners JB and Chris, or just sit and enjoy whatever beverage they suggest. These two are the nicest of guys that go the extra mile to create a welcoming ambiance with some of the best selections of beers and coffee drinks in Westchester county. They're also known to support their community in lots of different ways and is another reason to visit. I love this place and I'm sure you will too. Cheers!
