Sushi Niji — Restaurant in Town of Greenburgh

I love this place. I’ve gotten take out here every few weeks for many, many years, and every time it’s wonderful. The people working there, especially the woman who has run the counter and I think has managed the place for all the years it’s been open, are fabulous. Times when I get sushi it’s always good, fresh, nice, basically as it should be. Lots of rolls, all of them tight and clean (I like the California roll because I’m basic and I seriously love imitation crab, no joke). Accommodating service but the food- none of it was particularly good.

Steak wasn’t the greatest cut or quality. Chicken was flavorful enough so perhaps that’s the star of the show. Tempura wasn’t comparable quality to other places in and around NyC at a similar price point. Ginger salad was decent, fried rice was mediocre.

I rely on reviews when trying a new restaurant so I was really expecting a nearly 5-star experience given average ratings were 4.7. But in reality the sushi and service were really quite average so my 4-rating is being generous. I eat sushi often and know the difference between ok (3) and amazing (5) and my intent is simply to be honest for the next person. Price was in line with what you get.
