During the last week in November I was in Clifton Park picking up an item that I had ordered at a retail store. I had previously seen on the menu posted on the internet that Harvest Moon offered clam bellies on their menu my friend and I who I happened to be traveling with that evening love clam bellies. I walked in, and was greeted by the owner, who was very personable, the small market was very clean and laid out nicely. I asked for a single order of clam bellies, I asked the owner how many of them were in an order, he told me 10 to 12. While my order was being prepared I had told him this was the first time I had ever been in his market, at this point I was very impressed with the selection of prepared foods, and how fresh the fish looked (rather pricey) but there was not even the faintest hint of a "fishy aroma" a good sign. My clam bellies were ready, when I got home we opened the container and much to our dismay what we saw was what appeared to be a pile of clam strips all of them no bigger then the main body of a Bic pen cap and tons of pea sized bits of what appeared to be nothing more then fried breading. After spending many, many summer vacations in Maine we know what clam bellies are, and this was not them, not even on the small side. I called the market spoke to the owner, he said the man who fried them had left, assured me he would look into it, perhaps the man had fried up clam strips instead ($5.00 less), he took my number and told me he would call me the next day, he never called, I never heard a thing. I had to go back to Clifton Park again that evening, stopped in to Harvest Moon, found the owner was not there ,and was told by an employee that I had in fact received clam bellies the night before, and sometimes they "run" small. If this is in fact what his purveyor passes off as clam bellies they should be removed from the menu, as this could be , and was very damaging to what might otherwise be a good reputation. Unfortunately I will not return partly because of the meal, but mostly because the owner never followed through with that promised phone call to a brand...
Read moreI bought over $100 worth of fish last Friday. I ordered 2 sides of Spinach and 2 extra fries. I called right away and told them. The gentleman on the phone apologized said not to worry they would refund us for the missed item. Mind you the entire order tasted terrible absolutely no salt or flavor whatsoever. That is fine but the missing items? So fast foward to today I called because I still Havenât seen the refund and the gentleman that answered the phone says I remember you and sorry I double checked your order and those items were never ordered. Funny because he told be last Friday that the items were listed and he would refund me. Then when I asked to speak to an owner he said they were unavailable I said I will hold and he said good luck with that and hung up on me. I called back and was immediately hung up on. I have been a loyal customer for many years and never had had a bad meal or bad experience since last Friday. I WILL NEVER EVER ORDER FROM THERE AGAIN!! I also plan to post on social media the ridiculous manor i which I was treated!...
Read moreI'm pretty new to this place, but the experience has been very good. I like fish and I like supporting local businesses. Years ago I started getting my meat from Fred the Butcher and immediately appreciated the difference. This place is tiny by comparison but difference in the seafood has been much the same.
Their seafood is never frozen, and they've got ice on standby for anyone with more than a few minutes to drive. Their salmon and Arctic char have been awesome. They've got great precooked options, like crab cakes and seafood "tots". And they'll cook your meal for you if you call ahead.
It's pricier than the grocery store. You should be prepared for that. But getting daily fresh caught fish from all over (my salmon was from Norway) will come at a premium. And I think it's been well worth it....
