5 stars hands down! Every August we make it a point to visit here at least once during the summer, to celebrate a friend's birthday, play mini golf, and of course get some ice cream! I can't stress enough how happy I am to review this gem! If you have not ever come here I completely recommend that you do. Their ice cream as far as I am concerned is the best at least in the capital region. For people like me with dairy allergies it's very hard to find ice cream like they have here. Now of course they have Only 8 but did you know they make their own ice cream and dairy free versions for those like me?!?!? I watched a video of them making the ice cream and it was amazing that they were willing to share their process and the work that goes into creating so many different flavors. And flavors let's go there....for those who can have dairy they have at least 20 unique and common flavors accommodating to anyone's pallet. I went yesterday on opening day and scored dairy free chocolate covered strawberry, it's soft and smooth, I like a bit of chocolate syrup in mine and they were happy to add it to the top of my pint. I devoured the whole pint between last night and this afternoon. Saddened that I was a bit of a glutton, I just happened to be out that way again tonight. The lines were long but it's a Friday so what do you expect? But the wait was worth it! I got a new pint of chocolate covered strawberries with chocolate syrup on top.

As a laughable moment I had posted about the ice cream I had purchased on one of their posts, the moment I asked for it, the girl behind the counter said "oh are you getting this because you saw the post?" Slightly embarrassed I said "that was my post". It gave me a chuckle.

Now if you want to play mini golf their course is honestly the best around, it's clean, the greens are always nice and it can be challenging at times. Their prices are extremely reasonable and not expensive at all. There is ample parking and the staff members and owner are all super friendly and nice.

I can guarantee that no matter what you decide to do here you will not be...

Been coming here with my wife and her parents ever since we started dating years ago. They always seemed to love the place and it wasn't until tonight that I truly understood. Sure, the food and the ice cream have always been great, but there was always a sense of community, of family when I was there.

Tonight, as we were scarfing down our ice cream and shakes, we had the opportunity to chat with the owner. As he was sharing some of his plans for the rest of the season and for next year, it was impossible to miss the passion he has for the place, and for his customers. Everything he does, every decision he makes, has the intention of making the experience even better for everyone, whether you already call Pirate's Hideout home, or you're about to. The time and energy that's put into making every scoop of ice cream in the morning. The attention to detail in order to set Pirate's Hideout apart from the other ice cream shops. It's obvious the main thing the owner cares about is people.

And it's not just in the way he treats his customers, it's the way he is toward his employees and his own family. Tonight, the owner went on and on about how excellent his employees are, and how his customers deserve the best of the best. He also praised his wife for her work at the shop and how she supports his dreams for Pirate's Hideout.

Before tonight, Pirate's Hideout was a cool place to go get desert with my wife's family. Now, Pirate's Hideout feels...

Perhaps 2.5 / 2.9.

The course was very clean, staff was Very friendly but we unfortunately did not love the course. We had a great time, great location but definitely found things that could improve.

How the hole is set up on the courses there is a slight raise from the metel ring, making it harder for the golf ball to go in, if the hole was move concave in or lowered this would help, a lot. It grew pretty frustrating.

There were a lot of very small rises around the hole also, that made it more challenging in a frustrating, way.

The greens material used on the courses itself we didn't particularly love, It didn't always grasp the golf balls properly and made it hard challenging (in not the best of ways).

Overall, the staff was very sweet, the course itself was not bad, it was very clean. We didn't get ice cream but would probably go back for it as there were a lot of great choices, plenty of sitting areas. The landscaping is very nice (lots of flowers and etc)

At the end of the course we thought there'd be some sort of hole-in-one prize or the etc that most mini golf places have, but that was okay!

All in all, not bad but course...

Great mini golf and amazing ice cream!! One of the nicest mini golf courses I have seen in upstate NY, the course is fun and beautiful, everything is brand new, very nicely made, and clean! The ice cream they have is neverending, with homemade, gourmet flavors and soft serve, with every imaginable topping, and candy for sale as well! They make their own hard ice cream in flavors I have never seen before, like banana oreo, for instance. There are so many different flavors, I can't remember them all! Great service too, everyone is so nice, and the person I believe is the owner, is right there helping out, and also very nice!! You have to go there and see it yourself to see all the great items they have, I would be here all day listing them all! There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the ice cream shop is very nice, clean, and brand new (I think), also! I think they also do parties too! Great place!!

How cute is this place!? Great for an ice cream and a round of miniature golf, you can sit outside and watch everyone play while you eat your soft serve ice cream. The size small is huge, buy the kiddie size if you don't eat too much :-) There is plenty of parking, picnic tables out back, and a very cute indoor lodge type seating if it's too cold or too hot outside. It's open seasonally starting in April. Stop by and have a cone ☺️
