Food was good, but I’m leaving a review because of the terrible costumer service I received this morning. I ordered a BEC and two other sandwiches, which I think they should take a person’s name down for the order to avoid confusion. Anyway, the employee who called out BLT made direct eye contact with me while I was texting on the phone. I moved to get the sandwich and realized it wasn’t my order and apologized to the man who asked me if I had also gotten a BLT. I had been thrown off by the employee’s eye contact and I was in a heated text conversation on the phone at the time. So then when my order was up, I walked to the counter to grab my sandwiches and the employee said, “Are you alright?” I replied, “Yes, I’m just taking my sandwiches.” And he said,”Well, you have to pay first.” I then said, “Yes, but I can still take my sandwiches.” He said again, “I’m just making sure you’re alright because you thought you had the BLT.” And I said, “I’m fine, thank you, I was just distracted on my phone.” It was very aggressive and rude on his part. I am in customer service and I would NEVER speak to someone like that. Even if there was something odd about my behavior, his attitude was uncalled for and it left me...
Read moreI've been going to Jim's since it was at the previous location a couple blocks east, before the fire. I was in elementary school then, buying Now & Laters. That's a long, long, time - nearly 40 YEARS. I no longer live in Uniondale, but my mom still does, and I go get Jim's when I visit. Can't say that I've tried too many of the menu items, even though the list is extensive, with sandwiches called things like "The Foul Ball" or the "Eli Manwich" - I am a die-hard Metwich fan. And George remembers me every time I come in, sometimes even if more than a year has gone by. I've even brought my girls in, and he remembers them, too. He's watched both me and my girls grow up - they are now teenagers. Fair prices, nice selection of chips and drinks, and yummy salads. And one of the best things about it is how it's such a nice melting pot - the locals, the Hofstra students, the business people who work at the Omni building and EAB Plaza (or whatever it's called now) - all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds converge on Jim's, and all enjoy the friendly service at this little haven...
Read moreI didn’t even buy food here. I work at the elementary school and realized I forgot to pack a fork for my lunch. I came in to ask for a fork and salt & pepper packets and was told “what is this the Salvation Army?” After I told the worker that his comment was rude he insisted it was a joke but it felt incredibly racist…especially because he could’ve simply just said no. Plus I thought jokes were funny, the one customer inside the deli didn’t even crack a smile….he needs to get better jokes. The children I work with are more polite then the man child I encountered. He was not obligated to give me a fork or salt/pepper, but seeing how rude he was in response is very telling, especially because I could have been a future customer. You can walk into any establishment and get utensils for free without being verbally berated. I will definitely never buy food from here now. Must be why the place was so empty. A bunch of teachers were saying they don’t buy from Jim’s Deli, know I see why… add me...
