Roast Sandwich House — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

They make a really good sandwich here. Delicious traditional (and several imaginative) sandwiches round out a nice menu of choices that also includes salads. The Country Fried Chicken sandwich and the Cuban sandwich are excellent and portions seemed generous. My other half and I split a Country Fried Chicken sandwich on one visit and it was the perfect lunch.

Though there is limited seating, this is a take-out place, albeit mid- to high-end take-out (think Diner Boys). It is not inexpensive, but then you're not eating Jersey Mike's or Subway sandwiches here; while the dining area here is similar to those type of places, the quality, taste and style of these sandwiches are well above them. We felt the pricing was a bit high for what is a primarily take-out place, but we plan to go back to see about the raves on the Philly Cheese Steak and the Crispy Chicken alla Vodka, which we didn't try on our initial visit.

One thing to note if you don't order ahead: you'll wait longer than you might expect, especially for sandwiches like the fried chicken, which is obviously prepared fresh when ordered. We came at a completely quiet time (7:20p), and were just about to the point of asking when we'd get our order when it came out.

While the service was fine for counter service, we didn't experience the same level of service some reviews here have mentioned; it was simply a counter transaction.

Parking is street parking only, and is limited; we got there just in time to get one last available space on Merrick Rd directly in front of the business (there is a fire hydrant there, which limits the storefront to about 3 spaces). While there were a couple of spaces available on the side street, that was about all there was. I don't think I'd want to have to try parking there or crossing against traffic during rush hour, when this section of Merrick...

Had a craving on a Sunday at lunch time and figured I try this new sandwich shop with my family. We bought a few things from the menu.

Pros: Everything was amazing. All sandwiches and wraps were on point, fresh and had immense flavor! We all loved it. Caesar salad was decent but they are a sandwich shop after all so no issue there.

Cons: Their prices are in the range of the best quality restaurant you would sit down at that served paninis and sandwiches, yet it’s a takeout fast food place for the most part. Feels a lil off to pay that much missing atmosphere or ambience of a nice sit down place that does the same. I will say the sandwiches are of the quality and great. But being that they’re not over sized, the price seems high.

Also it was hard to find the place on Google until I put the exact name in. I couldn’t remember the name exactly and everything close showed me every other place in the neighborhood except them .They should fill out their Google listing completely to help people notice them.

Overall a great addition for on the neighborhood. I would reserve a visit here in the future for myself or with friends into these gourmet sandwiches. Not really worth it when getting salads or the kids menu items considering the...

I am in shock in how I was treated on the phone after placing an order online. The Roast website must of had some issue where the order did not go through but yet my debit card was charged. I proceeded to explain that to the man on the phone. Asking what I should do next since clearly the order was not received. He then continued to tell me “I don’t know what to tell you there is no order here”. No duh we already established that. I then proceeded to asked what his position is so that if he is not a manager I would like to speak to them to get this resolved. He then proceeded to tell me he can’t do this right now and put me on hold where he had no intention to pick me back off hold. Convenient, I sure he would have had them time if it was his money on the line. I am really disappointed in how this was handled and also because I really enjoy Roast and have gone a substantial amount of times. I will no longer be giving them...
