Mango was one big disappointment. There was no buffet (where you can get a huge variety for the SAME price elsewhere), but someone told me the portions were large so I went to see for myself. Which relatives did they pay to give so many reviews indicating it was the BEST restaurant on Long Island that they travelled so far to find such a good restaurant -- ha! -- hardly! First of all, I've been eating and making curried chicken for years and mine is always a yellowish color, not orange. Overly salty curried chicken was re-made only to be brought out exactly the same as initially. I indicated that the chicken was also too 'chunky,' (dry on the inside) you'd think the second time would've been different but wasn't. The waiter told me that it WAS NOT RE-MADE -- IT WAS MADE IN ADVANCE, so of course nothing's changed but the chef didn't add any EXTRA SALT ON TOP (ich...) It'll be on the stove all day long! Also, rice was cold and tasteless first time, then once again when brought out the second time. Why bother if the chef isn't correcting the mistakes, making no changes, sending it out the same way the second time. I talked to another patron about what he had ordered because 3 small containers were on his table and I was curious to know what was inside. But before I could find out, the waiter must have assumed I was criticizing the place (which I wasn't), he jumped to conclusions and started being nasty to me, yelling at me as I went out the door. I'm sorry I left him a tip. Head in the other direction towards Hicksville to find really good food and no one will yell at you -- that's terrific customer service,...
Read moreCame here on a Thursday night with a party of two for dinner and had no issue getting a table with no reservation. Started the meal with vegetable samosas which were the biggest I've ever seen and very tasty. We then got the butter chicken and the lamb do piaz with rice and garlic Naan. Chicken was rich and very saucy and the lamb was tender, a little spicy and definitely something a little different from your typical Indian fare and worth the try. The Naan was perfect, and I honestly could have been satisfied eating just that. We also got the hot spiced Chai tea which was not only delicious but also just felt like it warmed the soul. Was too full for dessert, but like with the rest of menu, I'd love to comeback and give it a try. Service was great, very attentive and helpful and didn't rush us at all. Atmosphere is nice and pretty quiet with just some light music playing in the background, making it no issue at all to talk to whoever you're with. It's a little on the pricier side, but you do get great quality and generous portions for your money. Parking lot in front is available, but it's small, so you may need to park along the street or down the nearby side streets...
Read moreGreat dinner experience at Mango. Friendly and attentive staff. All the food was delicious. What I loved is that the flavours were not "dumbed down" for the LI crowd like a lot of the other Indian amd Thai places do on LI. We got the appetizer sampler and everything was great. I do not normally like vegetable samosa, but here it was amazing. The chicken pakora was YUM! The butter chicken was a bit salty for my taste, but my husbamd loved it. The Lamb do Piaz was my personal favourite - I love peppery spicy saucy food and this was IT! Lamb Rogan Josh - on point. You can also ask for the level of heat you would like. The restaurant has a full bar and a cocktail menu. However, after getting a margarita I just stuck with with because it was quite obvious they do not really know how to make mixed drinks (our server admited it to me ). But, that did not sway my feelings away from sayimg this place is great amd highly...
