This place needs to work out its kinks and find a new chef quickly. The restaurant is tiny and doesn’t take reservations for less than 6 people. We waited a few minutes to be seated which was fine and then it took 45 minutes after we ordered for our apps to come out. The food was extremely mid. Beef satay was rough and hard to chew. Italian sushi and gnocchi were both just okay. After an hour of sitting our waiter finally came over and asked if we were done with our dinner (our food never even came out). We explained we never got our food and had to reorder it and then was told they were actually out of the type of pasta we ordered and so we ordered a different one. 20 minutes later and at this point we wanted to leave and not even get the food, however they insisted it was being plated right now. (I have watched enough episodes of Chopped to know plating shouldn’t take more then 3 minutes) It took about 15. We asked for the check again before the food came and once it finally did come it was very MID. The bolognese were tough and the shrimp was eh. Our server had zero idea what was going on, however the owner was nice and asked if we wanted a round of drinks. Vibes in the place were good but Cibo Pasta Bar needs to get their act...
Read moreThe restaurant clearly has a very high opinion of itself. Unfortunately, it is not warranted. Located in a strip mall, it has a dress code. We pulled into the empty strip mall lot and were told that valet parking was mandatory. We hoped that the food would make it all worthwhile. It did not. First, the bread was mediocre. The appetizers were actually too large- they could have been smaller and correspondingly less expensive. Braised short rib with creamy polenta had no flavor (the theme for the night). The polenta was fine, but the short rib just tasted like boiled beef. The Italian wontons were a cute idea, but their only flavor came from the dipping sauce. The pastas were similarly disappointing, The zozzona, a blend of carbonara, amatriciana, cacio e pepe, sounds like it should be packed with flavor. It is not. Ditto for the porcini cognac. The service was overly present and hovering. There was absolutely nothing to justify the pretense to fine dining or the...
Read moreWe celebrated my niece's 21st birthday here. The service was terrible. The food took forever to come out, and when it did, the orders were messed up. The quality of the food is subpar. Some people got their food after waiting about an hour, and some had to wait up to another half an hour to get it. Same with drinks. When we finally got the food, the spaghetti carbonara, was actually some uncooked flat pasta with butter. We sent it back and they messed it up again, so we gave up. The birthday girl ordered steak, and it took them an hour and a half to bring out a boiled piece of mystery meat. We sent it back, and they at least reimbursed us for it. They forgot to bring us our drinks, and then they told us that they ran out of some ingredients. It was loud, crowded, and expensive. We'll never come...
