Jones Beach Delicatessen & Catering — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I normally wouldn't do this but based on the owner's response to my comment I am going to give a thumbs-down to Causeway Deli in Wantagh. I've been going to them for several years. I stop by on my way down to the beach. I order breakfast wraps. I rarely eat bacon but when I do it must be very crispy. I called yesterday and gave him the order. It was the owner who took the order. On my way down to the beach I noticed that the bacon wasn't cooked enough. I ate it anyway bc I was starving but threw out most of the bacon if not all of it. So today I went and ordered a different breakfast wrap without bacon. When I got to the register to pay I told the owner about the situation yesterday. And he looked at me with a straight face and said, "If you don't eat it right away that's what's going to happen to the bacon." I didn't even understand what he said at first because of his broken English. So a worker had to explain it to me. I then told him, the owner, that I did eat it right away and the bacon wasn't cooked well. Then he just looked at me and walked away. Putting it in a perspective it is a very minor matter. This is my second visit and probably the worst experience I have ever had here. They close at 7 and I came in at 6:45. I asked for a sandwich and the cashier told me that the grill and deli slicer is off and no sandwiches now. I said ok and I came with 3 other people that wanted to buy a sandwich. He then said ok we’ll make you cold cuts and took our orders. I was charged 11$ for a roll when I just ordered Turkey cold cut. When I made my order he told me it’s a “build your own “ and not that I’m being charged for every topping i choose. Literally $8 for few slices of Turkey plus 50-75cents a topping is crazy. Lastly I ordered Mac n cheese and it was cold. I had to go home and heat it up. I’m not the type to leave bad reviews, however I paid 60$ for all my food and the service...

This small, local deli is pretty much what you'd expect. They have a great variety of deli food, quick service, and great quality food.

But I'm all about the BREAKFAST!!!

And man, this place makes an AMAZING bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Everything is cooked right and the bacon is crispy. If you get the bacon right, you're OK in my book!

Their pricing is right on target as well. Compared to a diner that I've been getting my breakfast sandwiches from, this place not only tastes better, but costs less.

So give this little corner deli a shot. There are a ton of regulars that go there (I could tell by the way the person working the counter knew them all) so that's a good indicator of the quality and value of their food and the service by the...
