Located in a residential area, it is very quiet and secluded- perfect for relaxing and being able to sleep without the distractions of road traffic and associated city noises. Minutes away from Jones Beach, Jones Beach Theater, and many other local attractions, you can easily stay here and enjoy yourself for a weekend, or the entire week. Observing the exterior of this unassuming 100 year old facility had me wondering exactly what I was about to experience- the Google reviews that led me to this place seemed positive enough for me to book a room, so, I contemplated what I should expect from the worn, yet well maintained exterior as I approached. Despite the age of the building, it is very well maintained. Both the exterior and the interior show some wear and tear, however in my opinion, it adds to the charm of Jones Beach Hotel. I’m not looking for perfection- I want comfort above all, which is what this establishment provided. There are three distinctly separate sections of this place, two of which have been completely renovated recently, and I will touch on this later in my review. The landscaping is neat, and there are many flowers on the grounds, including a multitude of sunflowers. There is a canopy on the street for unloading luggage, and an ample amount of parking in a fenced in lot adjacent to the building which gave me a sense of security for my vehicle. Definitely would feel comfortable parking my motorcycle here. Entering the facility through the double wooden doors (which are locked after hours, an additional key is given to you to let yourself in if you stay out late), leads you to a small, quaint lobby with a tiny check in desk. I admire the antiquity and workmanship of the woodwork! The lobby is small, but very comfortable and accommodating- a coffee pot, water dispenser, a few chairs, and a fireplace with an antique CRT television on display complete the ambiance of the space. Check in took only a few minutes, staff was so kind and helpful! At only three stories high, you’ll have to walk yourself and your luggage to your room, but I am sure that if assistance was requested, it would be provided. An “old fashioned” key opens the door to reveal a small, cozy room, which gave me the immediate feeling of being at either a friends, or relative’s house. Our room was furnished with a Queen sized bed, a two chair table, small refrigerator/freezer, microwave (there was a little coffee maker on top of the microwave), two nightstands with lamps, a bureau, and small color flat screen TV. Room also had an AC unit in the window. The bathroom had the full complement of towels, soaps and conditioner, as well as a hair dryer. Also had a jacuzzi style bathtub! Space is at a premium here, so the two of us maneuvering around the room and the bathroom required a little orchestration, but, at the end of the day, we were there to sleep comfortably, and that’s exactly what we did. It is my understanding that not all the rooms are the same, so keep that in mind. There were no built in USB ports anywhere, but, there were outlets on each side of the bed, so it was easy to plug in our own power supplies to charge our phones, tablet and laptop. During our stay, we also had no complaints about noises coming from traffic in the hallway, or adjacent rooms. This, despite the fact that the hotel was booked full. Big plus. As for the additional components of Jones Beach Hotel, Toto’s lunch, dinner and catering is on site. Sadly we were not able to take advantage of Toto’s because we were out and about the entire weekend, but Ellie (the wonderful soul at the front desk) showed us the banquet area and Toto’s, displaying the newly renovated Toto’s and banquet areas. Both looked extremely inviting for either dinner, drinks, or any other event where you would like a very comfortable and inviting setting. In summary, Jones Beach Hotel is a delightful facility. What it may lack in modern amenities and spaciousness, it more than makes up for in charm and personality. Will...
Read moreWont come back here. I booked two nights and I’m only staying for one because of the chaos that went on last night. It’s in a really cute neighborhood with a very pricey restaurant attached so I thought it would be great.
At about 11:00pm, a man walked down the hallway saying “this will be a night to remember” and the lady with him groaned like she wasn’t coherent. Not my business, but it made me uncomfortable.
A half hour later someone was knocking on my neighbors door and repeating her name but she wasn’t answering. And then what I’m assuming was EMS, cop, or a staff member came up and was talking through the door “we just want to see if you’re ok” and another guy whispered “something something dead”. She never answered the door or responded so the men opened the door, and the lady screams three times. She sounded out of it. They were all talking back and forth for a while and the men eventually left. I heard someone running down the hall a few times. Not sure why theyre running.
And then at 5 am, the fire alarm goes off. Nobody in the building reacted so I’m assuming it happens often. This place is sketchy and I wish I listened to the reviews because thats a lot for one night… As far as the hotel itself, it’s very old fashioned. The small lobby is charming but that’s it. No elevator so be prepared for steps if you have luggage or difficulty with steps. The rooms are tiny like a bedroom, not like a typical hotel. The doors are plain bedroom doors that take normal keys which doesn’t make me feel safe. The exhaust fan is right outside my window but it’s not loud like people are saying however it’s very loud inside. I feel like I had to whisper. I could hear the man next door breathing. The beds are itchy and firm. You can’t control the temp in the room which is bad if you’re a hot sleeper like I am. And because there’s no fan or anything, it’s stuffy and you can’t drown out the noise. There’s no phones in the room so you have to call the desk from your cell phone if you need anything. Not a problem for me but some people might not like that.
The restaurant is overpriced and tacky. And the smell in there was overpowering. Wasn’t that great for how much it costed us. There are tons of great restaurants very close by.
The man at the front desk is very polite and personable but he’s the only one I’ve come in contact with.
I’m overall uncomfortable here and won’t be staying the second night. Im willing to eat that money. I’m surprised it has 4 stars to be honest. I do not recommend. Especially...
Read moreIf I could leave less than 1 * I would. Unfortunately I'll have to be satisfied with a skating one star review. First and foremost this place is not lgbt-friendly. I repeat very intolerant. Not LGBT friendly. Stayed here on April 21st 2018, in one of their queen-size rooms. Also had dinner at the restaurant. The only Saving Grace would be Manny at the front desk who clearly has a more forward-thinking attitude then his employers. Aside from getting my entire order wrong ignoring my drink orders and basically terrible service from the wait staff in the restaurant the owner's son who refused to give his name threw me out of the restaurant for complaining about the children running through the restaurant from a party next door. In addition I was assaulted on my way out the door. I'm a transgender woman and was repeatedly insulted and humiliated while being misgendered after repeat Corrections. I explained that I am a woman and should not be addressed as sir and I was laughed at in my face. As for the rooms themselves they are old outdated lack little charm. The shower is impossible to keep one temperature as anybody flushes the water on the floor and you're instantly being scalded. Many of the lights in the room were burned out. Just a terrible experience all around and would never...
