Went to the dentist today at oak orchard for a routine cavity fix. Within minutes of being injected with the novicaine or lidocaine my heart started to race, my head felt light and dizzy, my legs and arms went numb yet hurt. My breathing felt almost like the breathing before a panic attack. We waited what seemed forever , my head and heard racing was now to a do able point to fix my tooth. After my tooth is done I sit in the waiting room in case I needed help. My legs at this point went wacky all over and my head dizzy. I somehow managed to use the ladies room and walk to my car. I sat there for over 30 minutes praying and hoping these symptoms would go away. They did not. I had a quick appt down the road so used cruise control to get there and back. Went straight to the er. I was seen by a Dr Boutin who checked my heart , lungs , eyes and throat. Then immediately 2 ladies came in did an ekg. Then the nurse drew blood blowing out my vein at that cuz she took 3 tries to even get blood. Mind you she took 3 tubes of blood. Within id say 5 to 8 min the Dr came in said my ekg looked fine and my labs were fine. Said whatever was going on was not related to lidocaine. I proceeded to tell him I was still dizzy , seeing doubly vision and hazy , my legs still weren't functioning properly and I was nauseous and he still released me. I had to walk to my car like a hermit crab. This is the second time ive been here and they are horrible. I had to sit again to wait til I knew I was ok or else I was gonna find someone to drive me home. I had to call a family member to stay on the line til I got home. Mind you Im at the er in hornell and I live all the way across town up a hill between canisteo and hartsville. Not only was it not safe for me and others but the audacity to tell me im fine when I know dam well im not. Anyone an look up side effects of lidocaine and realize I was in serious need of help. If dr Robshaw still runs the er he needs to start vetting these random people better. Im so not happy with the new hospital at all. I do not blame my dentist for my bodies reaction because ive never had issues with a dentist in my entire life but this year ive had bad reactions to local anesthesia and now lidocaine. Id say something is going on inside my body. I need awnsers. Take your loved ones elsewhere. Like wellsville...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. The staff of the hospital was super unprofessional and profiled me before I even got to the hospital. I had a badly infected tooth that I’ve been waiting to get removed and was not able to within stand the pain any longer so I called 911 because the pain was that excruciating, I was crying and wailing and screaming. When the ambulance arrived (at my trailer) they loaded me into the ambulance and I was laying there going in out of consciousness due to the pain, I remember one of the responders asking to see the infected tooth and to open my mouth and then I heard him say “wow she has all of her teeth”. Once I arrived they sedated me and I passed out and woke up and the pain started all over again, I told them that I did not have insurance, but that I was supposed to get this tooth looked at and or removed the following day. As they asked me more and more questions the pain started to become unbearable again. I asked for more sedation so that I could just make it for a couple more hours until I went to the dentist. They refused to administer more medicine to subdue the pain. Then proceeded to ask how I was going to pay for this visit and how I was gonna pay for the dentist if I didn’t have insurance or money, I told them I have money and the nurse literally looked at me and said “yeah right” and walked away. This is dragging on but basically they were no help, I was in agonizing pain, the dentist wouldn’t see me till 11am, when asked to take out all of my piercings and give them my keys etc nothing was put in a bag it some of it was in a urinal cup and the rest was just sitting out, I feel like I was profiled/discriminated against because im not locally from here, I live in a trailer, and I have no insurance; when in reality I have my own business and make my own money, I have no record what so ever, I just moved here 3 months ago, and I can definitely foot my own medical bills. I paid with my debit card for the removal of my tooth that same day and it was well over $200. The way I was treated was disgusting and embarrassing, when leaving they didn’t seem to care or see me out or even notice that I was leaving, didn’t make sure I even had all of my things because I had to go back to the hospital to grab my house keys after I had my...
Read moreI was taken into the ER by ambulance and taken to a waiting area where I laid for 16 hrs. I saw three nurses during this time to bedpan me. I was offered no water, food, but given two tylenol for the SEVERE pain I was in. In the 17th hour of being on the stretcher, Matt and someone from orthopedics came in to see me and gave me cortizone shot in my knee. I was pretty much livid at this time but I will say Matt came to my rescue. He got me a room and a commode. The nursing staff was absolutely terrible, rude, rude. I know it was busy but they seemed to resent the fact that I was staying. When I used my commode I rang to have it emptied. One nurse came in and covered it with a towel and left it . I went again and rang for a nurse . I told her I had used the commode and she said ok and left. Third time I used the commode same thing happened. Now I am on meds that cause me to go to the bathroom. If I could have walked I would have taken out the bag and set it in the hallway. I have worked in two different hospitals and for social services and I have never seen anything like St James. I finally got something to eat the next day for breakfast. Not being able to walk, someone came up and said they had set up nursing services for me at home along with PT and a walker had been secured to be delivered for me before I left. The PT (Craig) who came to the house yesterday is very good but Lincare where the walker was ordered from is something else. Called Abby P. and there apparently was a glitch about my insurance having to approve the walker or some darn thing. These professionals did not know this????? Walker supposed to be sent to my home now...hasn't shown up...called Lincare thismorning and the service said they opened at 8 am. Called various times between 8 and 8:30 am and said the ioffice was closed. Finally got through to answering service.... on hold patiently....lady who answered was annoyed at me...I'm hard of hearing and I told her so...anyway someone did call me back and apparently the walker was immediately being loaded onto the van to be delivered today. I hope so. I willl NEVER grace ST James again.ADDENDUM: Walker that was supposed to be delivered today did not come AGAIN! Guess I'll be on the phone first thing...
