If i could give this place a 0 star rating i would. This will be a long read, but worth it if want the real, detailed, truth of our experience. I have never been this upset leaving an establishment, and this is my first time providing a review somewhere. Unfamiliar with the area, we were looking for a breakfast spot before leaving town. When we walked in to Maggie's we were not greeted, but no big deal. I looked towards the counter and a girl said sit anywhere. After sitting, it was aprx 10 mins before we got a younger boy's attention and asked for coffee. It was around 930am, and the place was maybe 1/2 full so we understood waiting a bit. But the younger staff of 3(?) seemed to just be hanging around the front counter or out of sight so it was rediculous when we had to yet again get someone's attention to order....the younger boy who filled our coffee said he couldnt take our order mumbled something about someone and walked away...after seeing the EXTREMELY high priced menu and waiting a bit longer than we thought we should have, against our better judgment, we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt instead of leaving. A couple minutes later a girl came over who seemed nice, but honestly also seemed high af and unable to speak clearly, says to us with a smile, I heard you want to order. After waiting aprx 20 mins since entering and being ignored, I kept my cool and just said Yes. We ordered and hoped for the best! As more time went on we were anxiously awaiting our food. We began realizing that others who had been there before us were just beginning to get served their food. We began to think we should just leave but we didn't know what else was around and thought it can't be much longer now, I mean we ordered the most basic 2 egg breakfasts. Also my bf is a type1 diabetic so I was starting to worry about him getting low and didn't want to risk taking the time to find another location, luckily he hadnt taken his shot yet and he was okay at this point. Around 45-50 mins in to the experience, I approached the counter to ask for another coffee refill. The young somewhat confused looking boy handed me an empty coffee mug. I mean, Idk how I didn't lose it, but I clarified my request and he then came over with the coffee pot. The place began to fill in and get busier as time went on. We still kept hope that it wasn't going to be much longer and we continued talking and drinking our coffee. At aprx 65-75 MINUTES of being there total, the waitress approached our table and says there's a bunch of food back there, she was going to go look for ours but she couldn't remember what we ordered and didn't have the ticket!! Omg what!? Let me tell you I was speachless for about 10 seconds in absolute disbelief that a business was being run this way! I told her what we had ordered and I asked her to please find out if it was ready and come right back to us as we had been waiting for well over an hour now! She came back a few minutes later and reluctantly relayed to us that our food was not ready, that it hadn't even been started yet. At this point my bf put $5 on the table and said thats for the coffee, we're leaving. She said no you dont have to pay and she did apologize. But seriously at this point, I was beyond frustrated and we were starving! I said to her, so basically we just sat here for close to 1 hour +20 mins at this point for nothing!? We needed to get on the road and couldn't wait anymore, we were leaving. I said you really should give your customers an idea of the realistic wait time when they order. We got up and walked out. We also made sure to let a few people entering know of the wait and experience we had. I'm sorry but this place was absolutely not ready for business and I don't know how it is even in business. After reading some of the reviews, I see that the food is rated very well but unfortunately we will never find out. Avoid this establishment unless you want to sit and hang out for an undetermined amount of time, with little...
Read moreThis place is incredible. We were searching for a chill local brunch spot, and Maggie's delivered. I got the Eggs Salmon Fume, and it was the best salmon benedict I've ever tasted. I literally get this meal at every new diner as a rating system, and Maggie's just usurped my local place!
To start, the eggs were perfectly potched. Runny when broken, yet still a bit gelatinous towards the bottom to provide that ideal smooth yolk texture. Running across the eggs, down through the salmon and english muffins was your standard hollandaise sauce. While the sauce did not stand out, it was well done and the portion of salmon was generous.
The sides were perhaps what took this benedict over the top. A Homefrie/hash adorned one side of the plate, but upon trying it, I did not experience the expected peppery saltiness. Instead my palate was surprised by an attunement of the usual salt and starch with an additional sweetness I've never before experienced in a spiced potato. Not sure what they add, but it makes for a recipe their own.
The other side of the plate included the veggies. Capers and onions, on the side!! Quite polite of them, usually you don't get these extras or they are placed atop the egg for benedict amateurs to pick out. Next to these toppers was a simple spring mix adorned with quite a nice lump of blue cheese. In keeping with the theme of excellence, the cheese was certainly not your run-of-the-mill blue. It was quite a bit darker and slightly more moist than usual, and had a slightly sweeter flavor when paired with the greens. I had a chunk of cheese left to the last bite.
Overall, the dish was well composed and simply stuffed with delicious variety. And I didn't even go into Maggie herself coming out to the table to talk to us, and the free smoothies we got. The perfect vacation splurge brunch tucked away in a...
Read moreThe good: atmosphere + steak The bad: almost everything else
The building itself is nice, fits in well with the kitschy mountain town aesthetic of tannsersville. However, breakfast took roughly 90 minutes from walking in the door to receiving the check. There was 3 other tables seated when we arrived, and 2 more tables arrived after us, all 2 or 4 tops. I usually avoid steak and eggs for breakfast because of the price, but everything on the breakfast menu was at least 15 dollars so I decided to spend the extra few for steak. It was almost 20 minutes after being seated that the waitress took our order, didn't write anything down, then came back with a pad to take our order again. We both ordered lemonades, mine with berries and ginger. They came out promptly, but weak and both plain. When we asked for more kick and the berries and ginger, our drinks were whisked away and didn't return until after our meal arrived almost 45 minutes after ordering. Despite dining in our meals came in to go boxes and we were given plastic cutlery (I understand because of covid, but I have to cut up a steak...) The steak was a huge portion, seasoned well, a little undercooked, poorly trimmed and only one of my eggs came out over easy as ordered. The sides were: toast which was a nice artisan bread, home fries which were very tasty, a very confusing scoop of bland white rice and a perhaps more confusing pile of spring mix with 3 small chunks of pineapple thrown on top. My fiancee's omelette was 16 dollars and didn't look much larger than my two over easy eggs, buried in another forest of spring mix. The busboy who brought our food said he would be right back with napkins and never returned. Overall one of the worse breakfasts I've had in a long time, and cost us valuable hiking time. We'll probably be coming down hunter Mountain...
