Bagel Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Islip

This bagel store used to be my go to place, food was good, and the prices were great. Within six months that has all changed. Today is now my third time that I’ve gone there for the simplest bagel that one can ever order, toasted plain bagel with butter. For some odd reason the staff is unable to comprehend that order. All three were take out orders First time was with the older lady, I received a plain bagel not toasted, ok not the end of the world. I Didn’t think twice about it and enjoyed the untoasted bagel, second Time a few weeks later was with the girl with the all red hair, I received a egg everything bagel, and today without checking the order before I left which was from the young girl with black hair and black glasses. I took my stuff and went home, only to find out that they gave me a toasted plain egg bagel. I drove back up to the store this time and I asked the girl why is there such a disconnect. I do not understand how the order gets wrong from the cash register to 4 feet behind them to where the bagel sits in the bin, and to another 3 feet to the right where the toaster is. The girl even came back to me a second time and said you want that plain bagel toasted correct and I said yes and she still got it wrong. I understand mistakes happen but not three times in one month. it’s not so much about not having the “plain bagel with butter”, it’s about not getting what your ordered. The store was basically empty today, I was the only one in line with an order. I had to drive all the way back now to finally let them know. I was polite and the Staff was very polite and apologized but I asked for a refund and they have lost my business from now on. I will continue to tell everybody who asks me about this store not...

Went there yesterday with some friends for breakfast. The guy who took our order seemed insanely confused. 3 of 4 of our orders where incorrect. 2 made it work for them; but 1 definitely needed to be remade, the man who took care of the wrong order was very rude, asked who took our order, where the ticket was (we were never given one), seemed incredibly bothered that we asked for our sandwiches to be correct. Then once they remade the sandwich it was clear as day that the 3 workers were all talking about us. The man who took my order saying “I wrote down exactly what she said” the other man saying “she probably said it wrong” then the woman saying “she doesn’t even know what she wants then, because when you put an eggwhite on top of two over easy eggs they’re gunna look scrambled so now she’s going to have to wait” All three workers were just insanely rude. When we initially placed the order, we asked for the orders to be separate, and to stay, they put all of our stuff in a bag to go. When it came time to pay, he had no idea what we ordered, I went up to pay for two of the other women I was with because they were eating, my food wasn’t ready because I waited another good 10/15 for them to fix my sandwich and I was asked what the women were eating, I said “you just took their order, j have no idea what they got” and his response was “just tell me around about what they got” Very unprofessional, very rude, I would stay away...

When I first came here early in the year, I was not happy. Employees could not seem to get on the same page. Employees were arguing in front of customers, nobody new to make pancake batter ahead of time so they wouldn't be like paperweights, etc. so I stopped going. I was about to write them off as going out of business shortly. Then a few months later, I returned because, in all fairness, the bagels were really good.

OMG, what a huge turnaround!!!! Things ran smoothly, the food got better, the pancakes were light and fluffy this time and the bacon....it's to die for!!! Tasty, cooked to perfection and but not burned at all. Employees were no longer arguing and they were working in an order that made everything flow smoothly and efficiently. Since I returned, I'm completely hooked on the place! Food is delicious, the staff is SUPER friendly and now know me by name, the bagels are amazing and the pancakes and french toast is awesome!!!
