Made a reservation and they asked us if there was anything special we were celebrating. We told them my daughters graduation from college. Was greeted so warmly and seated right away. The service was like being on a cruise! They couldn’t do enough for you. Our waiter, Angel is a co-owner and what a pleasure he was!
Cocktails were done very well with enough liquor that you could taste it unlike many other places these days. The stuffed artichoke appetizer was delicious. Not extra bready at all and the sauce was really excellent. I ordered the scallops which were done perfectly and were not gritty. My daughter had the white clam sauce which she said was excellent. Her boyfriend had the pasta Bolognese and he really enjoyed it. My husband had the veal piccata and he said it was good. The pistachio tartufo is a must-have! I wasn’t a fan of the ricotta cheesecake, but never have been.
However, this is what makes this place so special. While we were there they came out with a complimentary birthday dessert for the table next to us and sang happy birthday. When my daughter was done, they came out with a complimentary crème brûlée and fired it up right in front of her! On the plate was written in raspberry sauce Congratulations! Then, we were served complimentary Limoncello as all customers are! These little extras along with the fact that the co- owner came out to introduce himself makes this restaurant stand apart from many others. They told us they opened two months before Covid started and it is obvious now why they have managed to stay afloat during the pandemic. Read moreThis is family not personally but they make you feel like you are family. Every single person that is at il Piccolo Villaggio are charming, pleasurable, attentive and professional. Once you get seated, get ready for the attention because they will make you feel special. The food is phenomenal! Amazing dishes. I love Chef Louie. I love all the servers as well but I do adore Victor, Angel and Steven is so sweet when you enter the door although I think he's moved elsewhere for different support. We've had just about everything but we stick with our favorite dishes, the short ribs with risotto, the arugula salad with chicken, the pasta bolognese, they sometimes have special pasta dishes with spinach which are so delicious. We've had salmon and their shrimp dishes, also dover sole and sea bass which one of them was filet table side. The chicken parmigiana is so good. They have an extensive wine collection and good drinks. Dessert is always tasty and an excellent variety, such as sorbet, tiramisu, pistachio tartufo, cheesecakes, panna cotta and the list goes on. It's just a great local place with great vibes, food, drinks. You will love it. And, before you leave, they will have a little limoncello with you. How great is that?! Highly recommend them and you should get reservations by calling as they don't use online...
Read moreFood was OK. Gave us bread and a small cheese and olive plate which was nice. My friend got a shrimp dish and I got a pasta dish and my other friend got pasta as well. Their shrimp was ok, shrimp were kinda chewy and not very flavorful. Me and my friends dish was very bland it had no flavor. It just tasted like pasta with some olive oil. Very disspaointed. My grandma got one of the specials and it was $50! It was ok, not bad but not worth $50.
Service was OK. We had so many people helping us it got confusing. The waiter spoke very softly and I could not hear them well but that’s fine it was lpud inside. We asked for more bread 3-4x to different people. they were good about filling water, they had someone always on that. During our meal we had 4 people ask us how it was I feel like 2x is enough. It got excessive. Then when we asked for the check, the proceeded to not bring it for 10 minutes. Then someone came with free desert which was very nice. They also offered us free shots but we had asked for the check and needed to get going because we had other plans later that day. It felt kind of weird they weren’t giving it to us.
I’m surprised about all these reviews. There are much better Italian places on LI. I would not come here again, save my money and get better food somewhere else. Oh also no...
