I recently saw a social media post about MTC and knew that I had to pay a visit. Parking wasn’t an issue as there’s a free parking lot across the street and around the corner (follow the signs).
Upon entering I was greeted by the warm tones of the wood paneling, string lights, and festive greenery hung from the ceiling. The husband and wife owners quickly greeted me with a smile and asked what I would like to order. As someone who has difficulties making decisions in places where everything looks and sounds appealing, I asked for their favorite food and drink options. In response I received a hot americano with half and half and tiramisu flavoring. It was delicious. For my food option, I was given a goat cheese quiche. Definitely not something I would’ve ordered on my own, but it was surprisingly good.
The atmosphere in MTC is extremely welcoming, unlike many coffee shops that want you to order via an app, pick up your items from a counter, and leave immediately. There’s a couch, upholstered chairs, and several tables. The music isn’t obnoxiously loud and you can have a conversation at normal volume or even take a work call on your laptop thanks to the free WiFi.
I probably passed a dozen coffee shops during my drive to Islip, but if you’re willing to go a bit out of your way for a quality coffee experience, I highly...
Read moreI’m a big advocate for towns needing more local coffee shops and love to show my support for them whenever I am able. I loved this place from my very first drink order here earlier in the week, and have been back three times since - a true testament to how good I think My Town’s Cafe is. The service is impeccable - friendly, patient staff who goes above and beyond in levels of customer service, cleanliness & personability in ways ordering a coffee at a big corp coffee chain just couldn’t match. I love the recommendations per the barista rec menu, the quality of the drinks, and the overall atmosphere. It makes my daily coffee all that the more enjoyable. My one qualm is the price, but it still doesn’t warrant me knocking a star off of the review because I understand now more than ever the price of legitimately every material needed to successfully run a business and make a profit has skyrocketed. I will continue to support and visit this coffee shop as a treat, however almost $10 for a medium matcha drink is a bit steep. Other than that, I cannot rave about this place enough and I’m really happy to support a gem of a coffee shop in the heart of East Islip...
