The Beach Club – Madeline Island, Summer ‘25
We stepped into the refreshingly air-conditioned café on a warm summer afternoon and immediately noticed menus placed neatly atop the fireplace. After browsing the options, we found a few tempting lunch choices and headed to the order counter. Our picks: a bowl of homemade clam chowder, an order of Wisconsin cheese curds, and a taco salad.
The Beach Club offers five distinct seating areas, each with its own charm: the lively outdoor patio overlooking the island’s main drag, cozy bar seating, a game room with a laid-back vibe, tables tucked beside the bar for a quieter experience, and—saving the best for last—the outdoor seating that looks directly over the water. From there, you can watch the ferry load and unload cars as it arrives and departs, giving you that perfect “island moment.”
Our food arrived impressively fast—under 10 minutes. The staff who brought it to our outdoor table were warm, cheerful, and genuinely welcoming, making sure we knew they were happy to help with anything we might need.
The taco salad was a highlight for my husband—served in a crisp, deep-fried flour tortilla shell with fresh guacamole and sour cream. The Wisconsin cheese curds came out piping hot, with that satisfying cheese pull every curd lover dreams about. My clam chowder was hearty and flavorful, generously packed with tender bits of clam and creamy potatoes.
Overall, The Beach Club is a comfortable, casual spot on Madeline Island to enjoy a beer, cocktail, or hearty lunch. With plenty of menu variety, a diverse mix of patrons, and some of the best waterfront views on the island, it’s the kind of place you could linger for hours. We left full, relaxed, and already talking about...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped by the Beach Club on Madeline Island for lunch and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant operates on a self-service ordering system—after finding a table, we approached the window, browsed the menu, and placed our order. Our food was brought to our table when it was ready, which made the process easy and efficient.
The menu is small but offers a good selection. We decided on the daily special: fried shrimp and fries, cheese curds, and a cup of fish chowder. Everything was tasty, with the fish chowder standing out as the highlight of the meal. There’s also a full bar available, though we just stuck with water.
The pricing was a bit on the high side for the portion sizes, but the quality of the food made it worthwhile. The only downside was the lighting in the main dining and bar area—it’s not very bright, with a large bay window being the main source of natural light. Despite that, the staff were friendly and helpful, which added to the overall positive experience.
Overall, the Beach Club is a solid choice for a casual meal with good seafood and friendly service, even if the atmosphere could use a...
Read moreBurger average. Beach Club Chicken sandwich cooked phenomenally, broiled version. Attitude marginal. If you live on the island or perhaps you have a second home your treated well, if not the resentment and hostility is palpable.
The girl behind the bar remembers me from the night before for being frustrated with the pens that didn’t work with the thermal paper receipts. She should have remembered me for the 32% tip and their failure to deliver the appetizer we ordered. Honestly if you know you have an issue an need a coaster underneath every receipt get different pens or paper but don’t flash an attitude for problem you refuse to fix.
Come to Chicago and I promise even if I’m walking by with the headphones in my ears and your a lost tourist I’ll point you in the right direction.
I’m not returning and other businesses on the island flashed similar attitude. The picture of the bumper sticker I attached says it all.
Skip this place go to Morty’s in Bayfield. Everyone is super nice, no attitude and...
