honestly wish i could give it zero stars. if there is anyone out there with an ability to open a coffee house on madeline island you will be rich. when we walked in it smelled amazing, but that was immediately put off by the tables, corners, bullentin boards, etc full of years old newspapers and magazines. Walked to the counter, nobody greeted us. I thought, ok well lets take a look around while we wait. Big mistake. As a hospitality professional the first thing I noticed was a 50lb box of potatoes sitting on the floor where guests would stand. Then I realized they were rotten and covered with flies. Desperate and curious, I waited ten minutes for whoevwr it was to serve me. While I waited I noticed the sugar caddy, an open cup of sugar with flies going in and out, half and half sitting on the counter with no means of temperature control, and only what I cam assume to be âstir sticksâ which equated to both a silver and plastic spoon sitting together on a pile of soiled napkins. No other âstirringâ divises in sight. Then she came to take our order. First she blew her nose into a random napkin that was already on the counter, then set it back - inches away from the fly infested cream and sugar. Next she asked my partner for his order. I am not exaggerating when I say a swarm of flies left the area when she poured his coffee, and then mine. I never ordered anything, it was assumed we both wanted the same thing. Initially I would have ordered a latte, but I am fairly certain that machine hadnt been cleaned in months (years?). My partner and I looked at each other in disbelief and shock as we paid the bill. Knowing there were no other options for coffee in the island, I carefully inspected the cream for flies and poured. No way I was using one of those spoons to stir. We sat in silence without taking a sip while other ordered their beverages. Once outside I decided to take the top off my coffee only to find dead gnats floating on the surface of my cup. This is by far the most disturbing and disgusting place of business I have ever encountered. We both gratefully tossed our coffees on the trash and went without for the day. No clue how this place is still in business. ...
Read moreDoes the health department not visit places anymore? This place was absolutely disgusting. Youâre greeted by a dirty floor rug that has been duct taped about 100x and clutter everywhere. I can get past the clutter but then we approached the counter that was a different story. I hesitantly ordered a cinnamon roll and my wife ordered a vanilla latte. Then I noticed what was going on behind the counter, there were dirty rags and dishes everywhere, the amount of flies was like something out of a horror film. They were crawling all over the food, the utensils used to make drinks and us as we stood there in shock. My wifeâs vanilla latte ended up being lukewarm warm fly coffee with a shot of creamer, definitely not a vanilla latteâŚshe just dumped it out after we left. I hesitantly tried the cinnamon roll even though the dirty bakery display case was full of flies. It was dry and crusty, pretty much inedible but I was so hungry I took one for the team. I wouldnât recommend this place to an enemy honestly, thatâs how gross it was. So I guess if cholera, dysentery or conjunctivitis is your thing, definitely stop by and grab a fake latte and crust pastry. I still dry heave thinking of...
Read moreGuysâŚI wish I wouldâve read the reviews of this place more in-depth before choosing to come here, but instead, I found out the hard way. This coffee shop is cluttered upon stepping inside, which I can overlook. However, when coming up to the counter to order, everything looked like a hot mess: food items and utensils strewn about, flies everywhere, and the expresso machine looked very dirty and un-maintained, which made me not even want to order anything with espresso or milk in it. Upon completing our order, I was met with rudeness and inhospitality, as the older female asked me where I was from, to which I responded âMinneapolis.â She mumbled to herself saying, âthereâs no one there, everyone must be here. Donât tell anyone about this place.â I felt she responded out of prejudice with this kind of comment.
I promptly read the reviews for this place after payingâŚI didnât even take a sip of my coffee. I could never recommend this placeâwould give zero...
